Hi everyone,

I have been lurking on this board and wanted to say hello. I am scheduled for surgery in a few weeks with Dr. Schneider. I am excited and nervous. I look forward to getting to know you all over the course of this. You all seem so supportive of one another.

A little about me...I am 36, a mom of 2, and back in school. I am glad to get the opportunity to have the surgery while I am on my break to have the recoup time.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

~Kay

Thanks for the welcome!

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was nice. I feel like I had a great holiday that focused on friends and family and less on gorging myself! I did not have that Last supper mentality at all. I am amazed these past weeks that I have stuck to a reasonable healthy eating plan. I can think of the hundreds of last suppers I had on Sunday nights before my new Monday "diet". I truly believe that is behind me now. YAY!

So as you guys can see - rainbow and I were able to meet! Yeah! It was soooo great to meet you in person Deb! We were talking about planning a get together maybe in January. Also, BIDMC is having a reunion in March for weight loss patients from the past two years. We should all definitely make plans to meet while we're there!

So I had my first fill today. 1.5cc's. I was surpised at the amount, because I really thought he would start with 1cc. lol. When I asked him why he was so aggressive with the first fill he smiled and said that he just had a good feeling about that amount. Then he made me chug, yes chug, a glass of Water. lol. But so far so good! I just had some Soup and it definitely went down much, much slower. I'm ready to start losing some more weight, so I'm excited to have my fill!

Hey Goils...sorry I've been MIA. Been so dang busy with work, dancing with Chris, the occassional gym trip and moving the in-laws into their new home that I just haven't had time to post and when I have...I'm too pooped. lol.

Congrats on your fill Chris. I had the same thought when he put that first fill in. Of course I got him so nervous having two of us in the room at the same time that he didn't know if he put 1 or 1.5 in so we called it 1.25. Craziness. To this day I can't really say what I have in there lol. You just WATCH how quick the weight falls off the next few weeks! I actually like going back to basics with the liquid then mushies. Kinda keeps us in check ya know?

No fill for Deb huh? You're doing so well without one...is that why Doc hasn't given you one? Are you still really restricted since surgery?

Nana - How are you? You doing ok?

Hey Dez - How are you? What's new?

Hello Kay - Congrats on the great Tday work. Its not easy pre-banded to not overdo it. Pat yourself on the back for that!

Well...lets see....what's new? OMG I can't believe I'm freaking 7 pounds away to being in ONDERLAND. I haven't been there in well over 16 years! I've got my butt into size 18 jeans from a size 26/28 and I'm fitting into some XL shirts...ooooooo I can't wait for the 16s in jeans and regular L shirts so I can SHOP anywhere for clothes. Oh won't that be nice! Keeping my fingers crossed and getting my butt to the gym!!!!

hi gals!

things are ok - i am still in my slump but my appt is next wed and i may get another fill, i'll talk to dr. jones then. i think i finally figured out that i eat too fast, esp at lunchtime. i only have a 1/2 hour and no time to snack or eat smaller meals throughout the day. i am going back to Protein Shakes, yogurt and Soup for lunch so we'll see.

a get together in jan sounds good, time seems to be flying! too bad we live so far or i would be dancing with you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
