Hi there! Hope everyone is doing well! Things are good here. My incision is healing up pretty well. Still have some scabbing where he re-opened but no infection so I'm happy. I feel great, and have been trying to stick to a 1200 calorie diet on mushies. I've done pretty well. Some days I'm a little more but overall I think it's a huge victory. I got my TOM today, and I had such a hard time eating. I had two slices of thin sliced deli roast beef for Breakfast, some cheese and crackers for lunch, and two meatballs for dinner. Oh, and a glass of wine at a party I went to tonight. I feel a little tipsy. lol. Good thing I didn't drive. lol.

How is everyone else doing? Dez I'm sorry to hear you've had a hard time eating. Has it gotten any better?

Well I think it's time to go sleep off my glass of wine. I'm such a bad girl!! lol

hi gals! happy halloween!

things are busy so i have been lax in my reading and postings. i have been struggling with my wt loss or lack thereof...i also amhaving lots of trouble eating at lunch so i need help. i usu have a Protein Shake for breakfast, i haven't been so good with drinking as much as i should but usu can finish at least 1 bottle of Water each morning. my lunch usu ends up with heartburn, that tight feeling and i can only eat 1-4 bites then i hurt like hell. i just emailed angi if she's still there. i wonder if my fill is too tight. because of it i am eating too much at night cuz i'm starving by then. anyway i needed to vent. thanks guys!

Dez sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. Angie is gone, sniff sniff, but still here with us in spirit. I would call the office and talk to someone. I'm no expert, but if you're having trouble getting more than 4 bites down then you may need a slight unfill. Please give them a call and let us know what they say.

Hey Rainbow -- how are you??!! I hope all is well.

Nana - how are things going with the process? Where are you at?

Sherry - you know I love ya babe! Keep up the good work!!

So I just finished my first full week of mushies. Life is good. lol. I've been able to stick to a 1200 +/- diet, but my scale did not move this week. I know it's totally normal so I'm trying not to fuss over it. I did have a bit of chocolate today and yesterday. Grrrr... I've still been sticking within my calories, but I wish I was stronger and could have said no. Baby steps I guess. lol. I would love to shake these last two pounds so I can make it into the 240's. Hopefully I'll get there this week!

Sherry and I are going to start taking a Country Line Dance class together on Tuesday nights starting next week. It should be a blast and will be a good 1 1/2 - 2 hrs of exercise. We then promised each other we'd at least do one more night of exercise each week. Baby steps with the exercise too. lol.

Well I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi all,

Sounds like everyone is doing well except dez. Definitely call and see if you need an unfill. I hate to think what you are feeling is normal. Also, I have a question. The diet seems to include so much protien. Do you girls not have Cereal in the AM? You seem to have protien. I have an appt. finally with a hematologist Nov. 14th., and for a stress test on Nov. 10th, in the meantime I am feeling tired and haven't done much. It seems like it took forever to get appts., so I am just waiting. That is all from me. I hope you feel better dez, and everyone else keep up the good work. Oh, by the way, I am going to be dog sitting (2 dogs, my grandpuppies) starting next Monday. I am excited, but they will wear me out!!

Nana

nana - yes! Protein, protein, protein! i have never been much of a breakfast person so i just have a Protein Shake every am, i hate breakfast. also, as you know eating in the am seems to be hard for me. i may have yogurt occas and i LOVE oatmeal, esp now that its cold. i had my first bowl of cereal post sx last week, i actually was thinking about how we don't mix liquids with food and cereal does just that so maybe when i go back in dec i will ask june. good luck with the dog sitting! tak about exer!

Does anyone have an email contact for someone at BIDMC to be reached with questions? You know like we used to do with Angi? I'm in a cubicle at work with no privacy and I'd like to email a question.

Be back tonight to write more. Thank you for your help!

Thank you so much everyone. I was at work and didn't have my paperwork available. I wrote to Michelle to let her know whats going on so when she has time I'm sure she'll write back. I'm sure it's nothing but, I just want to make sure. I've had a wicked sour/acidy stomach for the past 2 weeks. Its off and on but, mostly at night and that drives me buggy.

Hey Dez! Great to hear from you. Glad the scale has started to move for you again. It gets frustrating when it doesn't, that's for sure!

I'm feeling good and looking forward to my first fill. I get that fill the Wed after Thanksgiving - perfect timing if you ask me. Late enough that I'll be able to enjoy a bit of stuffing at thanksgiving, but early enough to get me through the Holidays!

Sherry and I started taking country line dancing classes together on Tuesday nights. It's a lot of fun and good exercise. I've got to get that exercise piece in gear!

I'm game for meeting up! Who else is interested??

Hey Rainbow, I can't say that I've felt pressure of the food passing the band...its more like the pressure of too much food in there. Are you chewing well enough and making sure your food is moist enough?

Chrispy - I'm ready to Casa Nova again hahaha. How the heck that is country dancin is beyond me but, it's fun and I'll do it. Looks like I'm in my sneakers again. Can't really find any shoes that are a little more slippery but comfy. Oh well...I'm going though. I'd like to go earlier this time so may we can learn some on our own.

Oh the answer to my heartburn/acidy/sour stomach was for me to make sure I'm chew chew chewin, not drinking with my meals and not eating too much. Ummmm I think I'm doing what I'm suppose to. I think I need to track things to see if it's just my food choices or something. EH I'll get there. The dang scale went up 2 pounds from who knows where and I can't seem to get rid of it. I didn't move my ticker back because I just refuse to hahaha. I joined a gym with hubby...we went and checked it out today and we're going to go Thursday. Already I have plans for Tuesday and Wednesday but, it's things I love to do so I'm doing them. Hubby is going to the gym Wed so I'll let him break it in lol. I'm going dancin with Chrispy Tuesday and I have Reiki on Wednesday...full schedule :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
