I am 2 months out and im finding it hard to find things i enjoy eating. It has become more of a hassle or chore than anything. I used to love cooking but now anything I make goes to waste. Things dont taste good like they used to. meat especially... I find meat to be very hard to eat and enjoy. Even the smell of things makes me gag...Anyone else have this issue ?? I hope it passes cause its starting to worry me.

I've read several threads on here where people had some serious loss of appetite several months out, so it doesn't sound out of the ordinary to hear you're going through the same thing. I'm sure some of those people will chime in and let you know how things went for them, but by all accounts it is temporary and will pass!

Maybe in the meantime try looking through the awesome post-WLS food blog called The World According to Eggface (theworldaccordingtoeggface). Her recipes, pictures and tips combined with her open and honest commentary on her own post-WLS journey really got me excited for the idea of "eating to live" now that I'm no longer "living to eat". I've tried a few of her recipes already and even my husband loves them.

I am only 1 month and 16 days out but I understand totally of not finding food as fun as before. There have been plenty of times that I have created a meal all happy about it, hated the taste and threw it all away. I too get discouraged sometimes and simply don't eat anything as I can't find anything I want or taste good. But from reading the other threads I hear its all a process and soon enough we will be able to eat and enjoy our food.

Call me silly, but I almost look forward to having this predicament. I enjoy cooking a really elaborate meal on occasion, but since I started school, I seldom have the time - and I don't think I will have the time for at least another 10 years until my career is established and my loans are paid off. I actually look forward to having that extra time that I used to spend on cooking. Try and fill that free time with a new hobby - whether it's something physical (learn to dance?) or mental (start reading classics on a regular basis?). Find something else you'll enjoy instead of food.

Besides, think of all the money you save by eating less! Once I didn't really have the time and energy to cook anymore, I found myself going out every day for at least one meal. One of the reasons why I didn't have to think long about dipping into my line of credit to pay almost $10,000 for the surgery and related expenses is that I will definitely make up for that in the next 2 years by eating a lot less! I'm sure I spend at least $500 a month on food right now - wouldn't be surprised if it was more on occasion. I look forward to NOT being tempted by Indian buffets, burritos, etc, so I can spend that money on something healthy and cheap. If "bad" food doesn't taste better than "good" food anymore, you have no motivation to eat stuff that's not healthy.

Look on the bright side! Use this predicament to your advantage.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
