mellifrits 25 Posted July 11, 2010 My sister is going with me TOMORROW to Star Medica in Juarez Mexico for Dr. Jose Rodriguez and she is worried about it being a bad area to go. I know that there are people on here that have gone in the last few weeks so I hoping to get reassured from them that everything is going to be fine. Is there any advice you could give me? Donna4545 13 Posted July 11, 2010 Juarez is dangerous. Period. Don't wander around, especially at night. If you go straight from hotel to clinic, you should be fine, but this is not the time to go sightseeing downtown. They average 6 murders a day, and innocent people get caught in the crossfire. Well we are getting picked up at the El Paso, TX airport and then taken right to the hospital. We will not be staying at a hotel at all. The only thing I think I'll have to leave the hospital for is the meds. So hopefully we won't have any issues! That is scary!! Thank you for letting me know since we were thinking about shopping a little if there was time.
edro 2 Posted July 11, 2010 Other than crossing the border, Juarez was a non-event. The police are heavily armed at the border. Also, you will not have to leave the hospital for meds--at least I did not. They brought them to me for $50.

That makes me feel better that we don't have leave to get meds since I was scared of getting lost. I pray it all just goes well. Tomorrow I will have my sleeve!! YAH!!! Miss Lili 0 Posted July 12, 2010 hi! I am going to Juarez in September.. I am sure you will be fine!! You know, alot of places are not that great to be in if walking alone at night... I live in Montreal, and we have more than our share of murders... If we were to begin worrying about all the dangerous places, we would never leave home.. Stay positive, good luck for the op.. and have fun!!

Miss Lili 0 Posted July 12, 2010 I know how you feel.. I find myself having to explain to most people I tell... But really, in the end, anywhere can be dangerous if your time has come... that's my view. I travel alot for work, so I can't let myself think those thoughts! You are lucky to have someone with you! My hubby is in Paris now, and I am soooooooo hoping that he will be back for my surgery (his mom is ill).. if not, well, I am a big girl, I will go on my own! Please let me know how it goes ok?
