I'm 6 wks post op. I've lost 26 lbs! :)) I'm testing the waters, trying real food.< /p>

I'm curious about what you eat during the day.

Im afraid to get off the mushy stage, because harder solid food seems to hurt going down and feels like its stuc

I was wondering how many meals are consumed during the day and what others are eating at this stage.

Thanks! :))

I stayed on mushy/soft solids for a long time, and only had one meal per day that was more solid. It was just easier for me to digest, and get in my Protein grams by doing it that way.

During my losing stage, I ate 4 meals per day, no Snacks, and each meal had a minimum of 15gr of Protein which gave me my protein grams.

I typically eat 1 egg cooked in pam for Breakfast, lunch is usually Grilled Talapia and a few green Beans, Dinner is Salmon or flounder baked and a small amt of veggie. If I'm munching I gp for Beef Jerkey.I use a little light ranch dressing on the salmon to make it more moist. Hope that helps.

Pretty much the same as above...I start out with 1/4 c eggbeaters with a slice of low fat cheese and just recently started adding 1/4 c canteloupe on the side. lunch is usually a Protein Shake (30 gms of protein) and dinner is usually tilapia, salmon, chicken, shrimp or some other Protein with a couple floweretts of broccoli, or other veggie. If I REALLY feel like I need a snack..I have a couple of pieces of turkey Jerky.

I have a difficult time adding foods....today I tried a sandwich (1 slice of whole wheat bread with 2 1/2 oz of salmon with lite mayo) and within minutes it came back up. (ugghhh) So no more bread for awhile. It was an experiment to see if I could handle it yet....NOPE !!!:)

Thanks for the suggestions. I am beginning to realize that I need to take much more time to eat and chew even slower. Its so weird though, how my tastebuds have changed....things I used to love taste gross to me now!

Thanks for the response Tiffy, Clara and Lookinup!

I am 5 weeks out and I pretty much eat anything (except raw fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds etc). I don't eat much in the way of veggies right now, but I am trying to add them back in. I think I had an easier time of it than most. I never had problems drinking, didn't really have to sip, just couldn't gulp..etc...

When I was trying new foods I found that it was easier to make sure they were very moist (a little gravy, ranch dressing, etc)

I ususally have:

an egg or egg whites in the morning. Sometimes with a chopped up veggie sausage in it and/or a little 2% cheese mixed in

tuna, deli turkey with a cheese stick for lunch and maybe a saltine if I am feeling a little wild

snack on deli lunch meat, cheese sticks, jerky...

dinner chicken (really, rreally moist like a rotisserie chicken with some fat free gravy), salmon, crab cake, shrimp cocktail....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
