Did your doctor give you ideas about foods to eat?

Recommended Posts

I think that's one of the reasons that I didn't do well with the band. My surgeon's nutritionist just gave me vague ideas about what to eat and told me to "push the band to see what I could eat." Isn't that backwards? He told me ABOUT the liquids and mushies stages, but he never specifically gave me a list of foods that were acceptable in each stage. Hopefully my new surgeon who's doing my revision will be a little more attentive to my needs.

Did your surgeon give you specific ideas about what to eat at each stage?

My surgeon gave me nothing at all, beyond a vague 'Eat potage', which left me wondering "how much?" , and "for how long??" ;) I don't even know what size my new stomach is!! :) (I shall ask him at my follow up on 22nd July)

In France, every job and profession is strictly demarcated, so it will be for me to go and see a nutritionist for dietary advice. The surgeon does the operation and that's that!

I have had some lovely advice from people on here, and I have bought a couple of recipe books for anyone post WLS. The recipes are great and can be adapted for each stage, as well as for the rest of the family.

All nutritional information is given at the end of each recipe. I bought them from Amazon and they are both US publications.

I was given not only food lists, but suggested daily menus to start off. Our program is extremely structured, and strict.

Hopefully, you'll get more information, and specific instructions with your new surgeon. Best wishes with your revision, I love my sleeve, and getting rid of the band was the best thing I ever did.

Hey Tiffykins

Would you share your diet with us... I would find it very helpful. Thanks a bunch.... Although I have yet to have my surgery scheduled. I am in the pre ob phase. I'm getting all my testing done. I hope to be scheduled in August. Any help you can provide on a lasting diet will help tremendously.

Thanks a bunch...:thumbup1:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
