Choosing new procedure; not worth complications

Ms Lisa

I've lost 32 lbs. and feel great. I can eat anything except sweets. They make me nauseated. I eat about 25% or less of what I did before. I do have reflux but I had that before the surgery.

Ms Lisa there is a private messenger on this site. I notice you pop onto a lot of threads to ask for a lot of details. I know your doing your research and good for you but you may be able to better track the specifics if you use the private messenger then you'll have a lot of info in your inbox to refer to :)

Ms. Lisa in the upper left hand side of this message box it says my name MP8BTPC. There should be a funny little icon next to my name. Left click on it and it will let you choose from a drop down box to send me a private message. When someone responds back a pop up alert will come on screen telling you that you have a private message and asking you if you want to open it. If you are logged off it will pop up the next time you log on. You can access your in/out box at any time by using the link at the very top of the webpage under you log in name that says YOUR NOTIFICATIONS. Drop that down and you can choose unread private messages and look through your inbox. From that screen you can click over to outbox and see what you have writtten. I will send you a message to help ya out :)

Good luck to you. I too am a single parent with three kids, having been widowed three years ago. I was very concerned about the risk of complications and the fact that if anything went wrong, my children could be left without any parents. Fortunately, I did not have any complications and here I am just two months later and down just about 70 lbs. Keep researching all your options and I am sure you'll find the right procedure for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
