I had my surgery exactly 4 weeks ago. I've been feeling great; the only complaint I have is fatigue. I've been jogging for 6 days now, and today I started feeling guilty about not lifting weights. So today after my jog, I started to doing lat rows (40 lbs), that went fine; then I did one set of seated rows (40 lbs). Only then did I remember I'm not supposed to be doing any lifting over 15lbs! I totally forgot!

I stopped immediately once I remembered. I felt a slight throbbing pain on my left side of my tummy. It gradually went away. Then I started drinking my Water and the pain returned (nothing very severe, 4 out of 10).

I'm terrified of a leak and I want to know if anyone else had any similar experiences or words of wisdom. I will not be lifting any weights again, I can't believe how dumb I am sometimes.

I hope the pain has gone away but if not or it gets worse call your surgeon, maybe someone else will have better advice.

I don't really have any advice, but I hope you are feeling better and that you didn't do any serious damage. Please keep us posted.

I would follow up to just make sure but I think youre at a greater risk of pulling a stitch in your sidewall muscle. Your lifting shouldnt strain the stomach pouch at all. Be careful and dont over do it! Good luck.

I was lifting weights for several years before sleeve surgery. There was no way I could wait the amount of time I was told to before going back to my weights routine. I shouldn't be telling you to go against medical advice, but I did too. The only thing I waited on was ab work. I didn't do my crunches for the 6 weeks I was told not to.

I'm on the side that says call your Dr just to make sure...I was told to wait 6 weeks for all clea on everything, so all i've been doing is walking and gently swimming....but the swimming has only been the last few days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
