dcprincess 0 Posted June 5, 2006 I didn;t think I would be able to get accusted to having something inside my body but it really hasn't bothered me. It may not be for everyone but I don't realize its there, I can see it better since I've lost so much weight but noone else knows its there and my husband can only tell where it is if I place his hand there and he has to really feel for it. bandedmama 0 Posted June 5, 2006 I thought I would be freaked out by it -- but then I had plastics and in came the implants! :eyebrows: So I guess it would be wrong of me to feel weird about something I can't feel or see but that I can appreciate, as opposed to something I see and feel everyday, and which my husband appreciates...lol Kristin
Marimaru 7 Posted June 5, 2006 Honestly, it never even occurred to me that a "foreign object" would be in my body. I did a bunch of research on the band, when I had no insurance and no money, so hadn't really given it that kind of thought. When my mom offerred to pay for it, I was so excited to have some form of help with my weight loss, that I think I skipped over thoughts like that or something. The idea doesn't bother me though. Wheetsin 714 Posted June 6, 2006 I wondered pre-op if it would bother me, but it doesn't. Unless it's mealtime I don't even really know it's there. The chewing becoms automatic and *bam* - it's just how you live. (IME of course) I've never had a cavity/filling. The one thing I do wonder is - will my band be in me in another 5 years, 10... but it's just the occasional passing thought, nothing I spend any time on. legallyKristin 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Additionally, I was kinda freaked out about having a port. But now I'm so glad I have it because the simplistic nature behind it. Because it's there, it can help me lose weight or be more comfortable when I get sick. It's worth it. And I don't even think about it unless I'm getting a fill. giveyouthemoon 4 Posted June 6, 2006 I kind of giggle when a bypass patient sniffs at me "oh well YOU have a foreign object in your body". Yeah sparky...and what do YOU call all those hundreds of staples you have in YOUR body???? Silicone is made by the body...it's natural to the body. Titanium staples are not. For me, the thing about having something foreign in my body NEVER made me worry. Nope. I actually love having it there. My own little governor. The band is fantastic. I'm about a year out and it has literally saved my life. It's a tiny silicone miracle.
