greeneyes 0 Posted July 4, 2010 Somebody told me that I can add the Protein Shakes to my liquid consumption for the day? I wasn't doing that before... Does anybody else do that?? :001_tongue:
JillianMarie 0 Posted July 4, 2010 Yes that is how i got most of my liquid consumption after surgery to maintain my lean muscle mass and preserve metabolism. I drank Water based Protein Shakes instead of clear fluids and did great. They also give you the electrolytes, Protein and Vitamin requirements your body needs to fully heal
susiesleeve 0 Posted July 4, 2010 This is how I gey my fluids also,I try and drink 3 24oz nectar Protein Shakes every day. I feel better when I do.
schaf921 0 Posted July 4, 2010 Yes - My nutritionist has me on 48 oz of fluids for my first week post surgery (which was 6/30). 24 oz comes from "shakes" and 24 oz comes from other fluids. I just throw in Crystal Light in my Water (I think it is called orange sunrise) and that's it. I also load up on SF popsicles - they are an easy way to get Fluid in and I asked the nutritionist if I should limit them - she said honestly, since the they are SF and are helping to keep hydrated, she didnt have an issue with them early on. melinekesh 0 Posted July 5, 2010 Oh my gosh! Not fair! My doctor said no Protein Shakes until 2 weeks after surgery. When I got to them I felt like was in heaven!!!! Liquid for me was see through liquids like broth with added Protein Powder. That was all I had for the first 2 weeks post op!
Jachut 487 Posted July 5, 2010 Any liquid is liquid! Even coffee, most people that are used to caffeine are not significantly dehydrated by moderate amounts of it. There's Water in foods, any drinks, it all counts. It is an absolute myth that it needs to be just plain water to count.
greeneyes 0 Posted July 5, 2010 my nut said Protein Shakes and caffeinated coffee doesn't count towards liquid intake because it dehydrates your body...SO CONFUSING!!
