Hi all, I am 8 monthes out now. I lost a good amount of weight thank God. I went from 235 to 158. I still need to lose like 18-20 pounds to look perfect:)

My concern is I am feeling much better now and I can accommodate more food especially the bad kind ( ...sliding... ) of food like ice cream, cheese cake, chocolate, potato chips, nuts...well, sure this is not a magic solution to obesity. I had a feeling I did not change. I am still thinking and trying to act like an obese person. These 8 monthes did not change me from inside. I still crave the same kind of food.

anyone has an information about when ( I mean after how many monthes post-operative ) the stomach will stop stretching and will remain stable as regards its size??

I dont want to discourage anyone ..still, I think this is the best decision I have ever taken in my life but I'm just concerned its results would not last long enough?? I don't want to return to what I used to be.

Have a lovely day everybody.

Have you been attending a support group or considered counseling? I lost most of my weight with the band and found a support group (and Weight Watchers) to be really helpful. I just wish I'd followed my own advice when the band was removed - I regained most of my weight. Now I'm really committed to both a support group and a two year follow-up program offered for sleeve patients at a local nutritionist. I'm going to start when I get down as low as I can go on my own. For me it's the maintenance that's always the problem. So I think two years of help then to work on my issues and keep me honest in maintenance will be the difference.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
