what size sleeve are you?

Recommended Posts

I have a 40f and I'm ok with that. My Kaiser facility doesn't do smaller than a 40f.

At 4.5 months out I can eat 3 ounces of dense Protein with a little bit of fruit or veggie in the same meal. I can eat 4 oz of shrimp if it has butter or cocktail sauce on it. I'm just starting to eat some fruit and veggies.

I have no problem getting in fluids.

I figure the Sleeve is a tool and the rest is up to me. I can use it or I can eat sliders. It's all my choice.

I agree with Lee. It all depends on the food. My bougie was 36f. Since day 14, I've been able to eat an entire 6oz container of yogurt, and I have no trouble drinking a big ol' mug of Soup. But give me a little Protein, like 2 oz of fish or a scrambled egg, and I come to a dead stop.

It just says to me that it's still all about making the right choices. I think that getting sleeved has left me in a much better position to make the right choices.

I just saw my surgeon today for a 3 month followup. Big shocker. I found out he uses 40 Bougie. He said all Kaiser facilities use a 40. I was surprised, and he told me that they don't want to restrict too much, and that is why they use this size. He told me not to worry about stretching, that I will be fine. Interesting though. It might explain why some of us have an easier time eating than others.

I don't know what size my sleeve is, but I'm three weeks out and can only take in about 2.5 oz of mushie food right now. It amazes me the amout of food I eat now and what I ate before...it seems insane! LOL

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
