back pain from loosing weight...???

Recommended Posts

before surgery my only 2 problems were some lower back pain (the common one on the waist area) and my left knee would hurt a bit after a longer walk or when i was standing for a while. sitting or lying down for 5 minutes and all pain went away.

6-8 weeks out and 30lb thinner i had forgot all my pains.....

until now,4 months out and 55lb lighter, i "got" a different type of back pain that i never had before.

even sitting on the couch watching TV hurts now after 20 minutes....

it is approx. 10" higher than the old pain, and it hurts almost all day long.

it puzzles me,cause i lost so much weight and got a worse new pain.

i guess it has something to do with my back muscles beeing some kind of weak or so but that is just a guess. i will definiteley talk to my doc next week.

has anyone had this or similar?

That high up it could be a kidney, have your doc test your urine.

I think you should have it checked out. This happened to me about 4 years ago. I had lost about 40 pounds and started having back pain in my upper back. For me it turned out that I had 3 herniated discs. I still have them and still dealing with them. I don't know why I didn't feel it til i LOST some weight, so weird. It's possible it's not related to that at all and it's just you moved a certain way, or did something working out, etc.

It could be nothing, but it could be something more serious like that. If it is something, the sooner you can start PT the sooner you will feel better. :lol0: So don't wait! Don't be miserable for no reason.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
