Congratulations on your success!! You are truly an inspiration to me. I am just starting on this journey as I just had my initial consult with the surgeon. I am self pay so things should move pretty quickly, but I think I am getting cold feet.....It just seems so drastic. Then I read your post and it makes we want to be able to move again, to be able to swim and ski with my family, not just sit on the side line and watch.

Renee...it IS drastic but drastic is what we need!

I want a decent quality of life back and I'm getting there.

Before surgery, I had pretty much become sedentary and didn't like to do much of anything but sit around. It was just too much effort and I was uncomfortable and hated the way I looked. I even skipped my class reunions because I didn't want those people to see me so fat. I'm definitely planning to go to the next one though!

My husband and I are going to go and play tennis this week. That's something I always loved to do but got too fat to do. I can't wait!

There are so many things I'm looking forward to being able to do again...I could kick myself for allowing me to get that out of hand with my weight....back problems or not.

I truly feel like this surgery has saved my life.

It might be drastic...but it's way better than the alternative...which is life as a fat couch potato and likely an early death.

I choose life!

Yeah! Things sound like there rolling along just fine! I'm doing well, but the weight just seems to be holding on. I'm trying to get to the 30lb mark. Hopefully that will happen soon! Thanks for sharing, Sheryl

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
