Uh-oh- Losing Restriction Already!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm a little more than a week out and already STARVING. I'm eating very thin mushies like thin purred pintos, thickened Soup broth, thin mashed potatos and gravy. I can take my horse pills back to back with no problem. I am starting to be able to eat more too :phanvan I haven't had more than 1000 calories in a day, but haven't lost since my surgery a week ago :phanvan I know this time isn't for losing, but I feel like I should be losing more with eating less than 1000 calories a day. I guess I should be happy that I've lost 15 so far since starting my 1 week pre-op diet and stop whining. I guess I'm just scared that

1. Since I'm already hungry and huge horse pills go down fine that I'm going to GAIN.

2. Since I'm not losing on less than 1000 calories per day that I'll never lose any more weight.

Sorry I just have to lay this all out somewhere where people will understand.

Most of us have been there. You just have to keep repeating to yourself that this is a time for healing, not necessarily weightloss. Stick to your doctor's guidelines about when to eat what, but if you're hungry, have more mushies! You can always try to keep them low cal mushies, but still, it's very hard to NOT eat (drink) more when the stomach swelling goes down. Remember, the band is NOT working at this point.

But here's something else to put it in perspective. :girl_hug: If I read your post right, you did a 1 week pre-op diet, and you're 1 week out....so in TWO weeks, you've lost 15 lbs. That's 7.5 lbs per week! Your body HAS to slow down in the weightloss to be healthy.

So try not to worry too much about weight loss right now. Do what you need to do to stick with the mushies and let your stomach heal.

O.k... I can completely understand from what happened to me!!!

I am now a little over 6 weeks post op. I was starving and eating like a horse until my fill last Thursday (1.5cc).

I weighed in on Thursday, same weight as the day of surgery. It was really a big downer, but all I kept thinking was that I would soon be a "loser".

So far the fill is helping, but I could just be swollen again and I won't be able to tell for sure for a couple of weeks.

I'm crossing my fingers.

My best advice to you is to keep up with your Protein intake, eat very little carbs and really avoid anything with sugar in it.

You may be in the same boat as me, but we can make it through this. When we finally hit our "sweet spot" all will be right in the world and it will no longer require me to take two trips if I ever need to haul ass.

Make sure you are getting in enough protien. I had the same issues you stated. I went back to the dietian and she said I was in starvation mode and my body was protecting my calories. I started eating MORE calories and making sure I had 55 grams of Protein and it started coming off. Today am at 30. Stayed the same for a month. It really worked for me.

Secondly make sure you are getting excercise. Don't have to join a gym just walk or move some way. Go shopping or something. :girl_hug: Good luck!

I've been walking. I lost a pound more as of this morning. I guess I shouldn't be pouting, just trying to eat as healthily as possible and getting my exercise. I feel great though after a little more than a week. I feel almost normal!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
