I am lucky so far to not have any physical hunger. I was just wondering how many others have been so lucky, and how long it has lasted for each person.

Thanks for your input

I'm 9 weeks out and the feeling isn't the same as the old hunger but I do feel emptiness if I go 5 hrs or more. I eat 3 times @ day with protein(mostly fish) and 1 snack usually beef jerkey.

Zero hunger since hunger, and it hasn't returned. I'm approaching my 13 month post-op on Saturday, and can go about 12-16 hours without eating without even feeling weak, lethargic at this point. It's only happened a couple of times, but never any hunger.

I am almost 9 weeks out and I don't ever get hungry per se but rather a feeling of 'empty' .. like low blood sugar (I am not diabetic) and I must have something every 3-4 hours. Has my hunger actually returned? I would say no.

Tiff .. this is incredible .. 12 hours without eating? Do you drink your fluids during this time? I think the longest I could go would be 5 hours and that is pushing it. I feel weak at that point.

i never really got hungry before surgery because i ate a lot. since the surgery i get hungry,, i feel empty every 3 hours or so,, i'm pretty disapointed i was looking forward to not being hungry,, still hoping it will happen. Once i eat something i'm ok for another 3 hrs. i think i'm eating a lot? more calories than most of you seem to eat,, but my stomach is definately smaller so as long as i lose the weight eventually i will be very happy,,,here's to us all being happy,,,

Hi I voted lost it and it never returned, but I do very occasionally have a feeling of hunger, probably because I am. I think the hunger I get is like normal people hunger. I feel hungry for 30 mins maybe a couple of times a week. It goes off if I don't get round to eating, just like normal people's does too. how weird is that?? It was never like that for me before.

I also voted "lost it after surgery and never had it return" ... However, I often do get a weak "empty" feeling if I go too long.

Somedays, I can go a long time. A few weeks ago, we got up and had Breakfast around 8:30 ... Got busy with the day & went shopping with my 8 year old. At one point, he stopped, dropped his packages (very dramatically, like only an 8 year old can do) and said "Are we ever going to have lunch?" I looked at my watch and realized it was 3:30 in the afternoon!!!! I immediately took him to the food court & filled him up. Can't believe he didn't complain before that. He told me "I figured you'd remember me eventually." Oh! The drama of the 2nd grader!

hAHAHA Love the story Mini.. haha I can see my niece doing the same thing. Only it would involve a well placed back of her hand to her forehead *queue fainting pose* hahah.

I had no hunger the first few weeks or so after surgery, but now I'm hungry all the time. I was really hoping I would be in the group with no hunger, but alas I'm not that fortunate. And yes, I take my acid reducer religiously, drink fluids, etc.

I can even eat a 30gram Protein bar and be hungry a couple of hours later. I try to keep one close by and just nibble on it all day in between meals. I work at home and it's too tempting to head to the kitchen and graze.

oh, I hope it stays away! So far I do not feel hungry and if I am not thinking about it, I miss my meals. Oops! For that matter... I do not really feel full when I eat either. At least not in the same way I used to feel full

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
