I am three weeks post op and I am at a stall. I haven't even lost ounces. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am starting to get extremely frustrated and I'm feeling like a failure. What's going on?!:confused1::cursing:

I'm 3 weeks out and still have Water weight and swelling. So, I don't know your particular situation but I know we all lose at different rates. Also, I have heard of many folks hitting a 3 week stall. Wish I had something to offer as advice. Just hang in there and do what you know is right and it will kick in soon.

The stall seems a more or less normal thing.... I think i have hit mine at just over 2 weeks.... I know it'll pass but it is frustrating. Keep in mind what we have put our bodies though for this surgery and also the extremely low calorie diet we're on both on pre and post op - your body will react to it all at some point.

Just stick with it and you'll come out the other side in the end - don't forget to review what you're eating calorie and carb wise to maximise the effect.

Good luck

Kathy

My one week stall (only 2 weeks out) just broke this morning. I would suggest that you take your measurements. I did and was really frustrated that I was not losing in my waist until I realized yesterday that I was losing it all in my legs.

I was a bit down about not losing (I even gained a little) but when I saw myself naked (AHHHH) in the mirror yesterday and when I put clothes on that I have not fit in ages, I could see it even if the scale did not.

Think about how little you are eating. You HAVE to lose weight. You WILL lose weight. Sometimes our bodies need to adjust what we have lost and it take a little while to reset. Measure and don't step on the scale for a few days. You will drive yourself crazy. Make sure you are getting in your Water and Protein too.

Now, the next time I go crazy when I hit a stall, make sure you say all this back to me cause I will need to hear it.

I too hit a stall at 2-2/12 weeks (surgery 6/8), but have finally picked up the pace again. But boy was it an "ahh ha" moment yesterday! I am going back out on the road for work (have been working at home since surgery) and I was trying on all of my work clothes to see what I should take next week and .......EEEKKKK, nothing fits! All of my pants fall down! Luckily I had a couple of pair of pants from a few years ago that are a size or so down from my pre-op size, but I need to hit the mall today! If anyone needs any size 20ish stuff give me a shout out. I will gladly pack it up and ship it to you (I'll even pay shipping). Keep in mind that I am 50 so most of my clothes are not the latest in "style". Not granny stuff mind you - mostly Talbots, Ralph Lauren, etc.

Hang tough girlie, one day when you least expect it, you will start dropping the weight again!

Oooh I want dibs on the clothing. I need smaller stuff for work. I have very little now and have wearing the same 3 outfits to work everyday. I would be ever so grateful and would gladly pay shipping.

My surgery was May 11th, and I hit a stall at about three and a half weeks. I lost a great deal of weight in my first month, 21 pounds (I'm a "lightweight"), but for the last three and a half weeks I've lost 3 pounds total. Since I am eating 600 calories a day, 70 grams of Protein and 40 or fewer grams of carb, I don't understand how that is physiologically possible. I think my body hates me. Just saying. Should a pound a week be all I can expect eating 600 calories a day? It doesn't seem right to me.

Hang in there, as a lightweight Mommydog you're going lose slower and our bodies are in shock -the weight will come off when your body adjusts and it is much healthier to lose slower. Stalls are normal and the scale doesent move but the inches still come off. Be kind to yourself and patient, yes I know it's hard, I've had a stall too and the lbs are slow coming off but they are coming off. VSG WORKS!! Dont let it get to you!

Thanks everyone for your comments...at least now I know I'm not the only one this is happening to. Every time I get on the scale and see the same exact weight I want to chuck it at the wall. I hope you're right and I continue to lose weight...I just don't know when my body is going to get with the program.

Do a search on the forums for stalls and you'll get more posts than you'll probably want to read!

It's quite normal and it won't be the only one you hit either!

It's just all part of it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
