Is there a way to subscibe to a thread without first posting to it?

I keep getting e-mail announcements of new posts in subscription threads. I have gone to the Control Panel, Edit Options, and clicked on "No email notification," but still I keep getting emails. Suggestions?

Sorry, I can't help you out. Try one of the moderators - Alexandra, KellyMoos, Penni60, I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them. Half-heimers.

Good luck.

I have the same problem. I tried the daily notification thing, and then none at all, but I still get all the notifications. *shrug*

THe only way I got rid of the email notifications was to stop subscribing to threats, either intentionally or by accident.

Marimaru, I figured out how to turn off e-mail notification. Go to your Subscriptions page, where there is a list of all the threads to which you are subscribed. Go to the last column on the right, labeled "Notification." Do all of the threads say "None"? If not, click in the empty box to the right; then pull down the menu at the bottom and set it to read "No email notification." Click "Go"; the options will reset, and there will be no further e-mail announcements.

That still leaves my question of whether it is possible to subscribe to a thread without first posting in it?

Another technical question: When I click on highlighted threads on the Subscriptions page, I am always taken to Post #1, where I then have to click on "View First Unread." Is there no way to go directly to the last unread post?

Not a mod, but if you click the little blue arrow/box next to the title, you go to first unread. If you hit the box next to the most recent poster it goes to last post.

If you do not want to unsubscribe from each thread individually you can set up preferences on the options page.

If you want to subscribe to a thread without posting, use thread tools at the top of each thread.

It took me awhile to figure it all out, thank you for making me feel...seasoned.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
