Is a blender a "must have" post-op?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to have surgery next week. I am curious if a blender is essential post-op.

Also, I have purchased all kinds of Protein. broth, and sugar free pudding and Jello, getting ready for post-op. I think I also need to get some sugar free popsicles. What else do I need?

Thanks in advance for feedback. I want to make sure to have what I "need" when I get home.

Sounds like you pretty much have it covered. I drank lots of Crystal Lite when I first got home because for some reason it seemed to go down easier for me than plain Water. Don't know why, but it did. I use a Magic Bullet instead of a blender for my Protein Shakes, it does add more air but they mix better. I just let them sit for the air to go out. Also, the Magic Bullet is great for the "mushy" phase, it helps get all the lumps and bumps out of your mushy foods. Best of luck.

I'm not post op yet but one of my favorite kitchen appliances is the Ninja Master Prep system. The sell them at costco for around $40 so look there first cus i've seen them as High as $75 other places. It is AMAZING and wayyy better then any blender u could possibly buy for a comparitive price. :-) hope this helps! I'm looking forward to using it post op as well!

I'm still pre-op but I've been "nesting" too, in preparation for post-op. I had bought a wand emulsifier for my Mother for Christmas and that thing is so handy and quick I might just have to "borrow" it long term, lol! It makes everything silky in like 5 seconds and you don't have to dirty an extra cup or anything. I bought hers at Sur la Table for like $20 bucks.

I have the wand, blender and bullet and I didn't use any of them. Honestly, the idea of mushed/pureed food completely disgusted me so I did the full liquids for a couple of weeks and then went to the soft stage gradually. My nutritionist said most people have the hardest time blending their foods (pureed chicken ..?! . *ick*) so I stuck with low-sodium/low-sugar commercially prepared Soups.< /span>

Thanks for the responses so far. I think I will buy the Ninja Master Prep system that BonBon recommended. It looks like it is pretty easy to operate and it seems to be highly reviewed. If nothing else, I can use it to make smoothies.< /p>

pureed chicken? ! Barf-o-rama lol!! :) I hadn't thought of blending up real foods, I was just thinking of the Protein Shakes, and ways to keep them from being grainy, which I've heard is a problem. I think I'm going to buy or make from scratch quarts of chicken broth, Tomato Soup, veg. broth etc., freeze them and then heat up portions with unflavored Protein Powder mixed in. It sounds better to me than all these jelly sweet Protein bullets and grainy shakes.< /p>

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
