SWANY 1 Posted June 27, 2010 Hello Everyone, I am officially 4 days post op and feeling better each day. Someone asked to share my hospital experience. Well here it goes. I went in on Wed morning and was prepped for surgery within a half hour. Everyone was very nice. I wasnt nervous because I was Prayed up. I would have to say the waiting was the hard part. Then I was wheeled to the OR and they gave me the GOOD stuff lol. I remember waking up in recovery, the doctor called my mom and gave her a full update on how it went. He said I did great and everything went well. I was under for 2 hours. The first day I was out of it due to the Morpien drip. The hard part came the second night. I forgot about the discomfort of the incisions and some of the pain but the GAS pain that Ive been feeling has been the worst for me. I have asthma and the gas pain seems to sit right on my chest and makes it hard to breath. But I have to tell you everyday it gets better. Follow what your supposed to do. Sip walk take your Vitamins eat your Protein and be as active as possible. This is not the time to sit around and be waited on. You have to heal and get yourself going. The mornings are the hardest because I have been having night sweats really bad and Im only 30 lol. But the during the day my strength gets better. Today I went to the store in the morning and I am about to drive myself to church. I need the Lord right now. Be blessed everyone and ask any questions you may have. educationrulz 18 Posted June 30, 2010 Glad to hear that you are staying positive. Post Op is definitely a day by day experience (struggle). Don't slack off with your drinking like I did and you should be fine. Getting dehydrated was AWFUL!
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted June 30, 2010 Re: dehydration in the first few days....shouldn't they be giving you IV fluids to compensate for your inability to drink much over the course of the day? Or did they send you home the next day?
educationrulz 18 Posted July 4, 2010 Re: dehydration in the first few days....shouldn't they be giving you IV fluids to compensate for your inability to drink much over the course of the day? Or did they send you home the next day? I had an IV for most of the time I was in the hospital. I got dehydrated after I came home. Drinking was extremely painful because of my hernia repair I guess and I just kind of gave up on it. Big mistake. But, I'm back on track and it's less painful now.
