I ate yogurt for the first time last night and had no problem getting it down but I woke up this morning with a stuck feeling in my chest. it doesn't hurt just feels like if I take a drink or eat something it will go down BUT its not go:confused1: down. Has anyone else had this feeling? Would you be concerned? :confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1::confused::confused1:

I HAVE!!

I truly though I was going crazy. I felt like something was stuck in my throat. I was convinced I had a pill or something stuck in there. I would swallow and the liquid would just sit in that spot for a second and then carry on going? It drove me CRAZY! I had it for 3 days and then one day it just vanished! There is hope!

I didn't have that lingering feeling, but I would imagine a hot liquid might do the trick. Try sipping on some hot hot tea and little by little it makes sense that it would move on down. Or coffee if you are at the point you can have coffee.

Mine didn't feel 'stuck' but I did have really bad heartburn the next morning, but more in the esophagus than the stomach. At my first post-op with the surgeon, he mentioned that the esophagus acts like a "pre-stomach" when the stomach is full and I am eating more good. I think that I ate too much that day with my first time to try Soup. I am always testing and will now try to eat that type of stuff earlier in the day and try to stick with clears at the end of the day before bedtime.

Sleeved on 6/10/10. 14# lost since. (blasted ticker!!!)

I get the heart burn in the morning thing... and also have a slight stuck feeling... but I wonder if this is due to the fact my tongue is getting really furred up from the Protein drinks... I can clean the bit I can see... but not the part which goes down my throat so i wondered if it might be furry down there!! LOL

LOL, Sparkle! If you don't have a hair-trigger gag reflex, try scraping the back of your tongue with a spoon. It's just as effective as the tongue scrapers you can find in the oral care section of the drug store. It's good practice anyway, as we hold a lot of bacteria there. Also, a saltwater gargle might help debride some of the fur back there. Good luck! :)

I do have a fairly hairy gag reflex and I have a tongue scraper.... duely purchased last week when all this started. I scrape as far back as I can without heaving!! Plus we use a mouthwash as well.... so heres hoping!! :drool5:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
