I had Dr. Alami... he was so awesome, but I don't think he's there anymore... :( Finally broke my stall the past couple of weeks, so it's nice to see the scale moving again!!

Good luck ladies!! Oh, and you can eat much more liquid.... when you start mushies, you'll be shocked at the little it takes to satisfy you!

Kimmie

Does any one know how long it takes to get the actual surgery from Kaiser SSF. I have had one meeting and am scheduled for orientation on 10/16. I just want to know how many meetings are involved before having surgery. I just want to get it done and start my journey to freedom...;.

Hi Gail,

It took me from August, 2010 until January, 2011 to have my surgery--so about four months. I could have done it quicker, but looking back on it, I really think taking that much time set me up for success.

This way of eating and living was obviously a huge change for me. My total perspective on food and eating and life had to change and that took time for me to really learn and adapt to the new behaviors. In addition, I had to loose almost thirty pounds before surgery.

Enjoy the journey and what that time will give you in the long run.

All my best to you,

David

Hi,

Google BMI calculator. Healthy BMI is determined by gender and height.

I am female, 5'4". The top of my healthy range is 145. At 146 I am overweight. At 176 I am obese.

I strive to stay in my healthy range. I wear size 6-8. Jeans so at 62, I feel good about that. It also keeps me at Lifetime status for Weight Watchers. I go once. Week to stay accountable to myself to not ever go into denial. I use the Bariatric food plan, not WW points.

I had Dr. Baggs. I am 2.5 years out from VSG.

I had my introductory class the end of April 2012 and had my surgery the end of August 2012. I had to lose 20 lbs and was diagnosed with sleep apnea in the process so had to use my cpap for minimum of two months before my surgery. It all seemed to go very quickly...and I used the time for self discovery and habit changes. The more you do and stick to new habits before the surgery the more successful you will be after the surgery.

Hi, I'm Kym, I'm in the Kaiser bariatric program and am hoping to have the gastric sleeve surgery in SSF. I've had my orientation in SSF on 6/25. I have the Lifestyle, Nutrition 101, and Medical Appt with Kirk on 7/29 in SSF. I've lost 12 lbs since I started on the prep-op diet and have switched to Medifast plan recently because I have a lot of those foods to use and its easier for me working out in the field to take shakes etc. We will see what Captain Kirk has to say about that at my appt. on Monday. I've started taking all my Vitamins pre-op because I've had a lot of Hair loss on the Medifast plan before. I live in Sonoma County 35 min north of Santa Rosa, so I'm attending the 14 week weight loss surgery success classes through there and have met a lot of great local support people. I'm also going to take the 4 week emotional eating course offered at Kaiser SR starting 8/5/13. I do not know yet who my surgeon will be at SSF but I'm hoping to coordinate my next appt with him and the psychiatrist on the same day since I live so far away bearing my physical shows no other problems to fix! I wavered a bit in the beginning of this decision after the mandatory intro class I had to do get the approval, but I now have my chronic pain issues under control and I've fit in a walking program with my hectic schedule and I've done or am doing everything I'm supposed to be doing after surgery except give up coffee! I'm not going to give up coffee until the give me a surgical date! I'm excited and ready for the next steps! :)

Lol......that's what I said. I'm not getting as much Protein as I should be. Apparently my new smaller stomach does not like my Protein Drink anymore so I had to stop drinking it. I have been having a rough time. I just can't wait to move to stage 3 foods.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
