3loves 0 Posted June 4, 2006 I see a lot of people are taking Flintstones. I am also. I have been taking 2 a day. How many is everyone taking? I just decided to take two, not because I was told to do that. But I don't know if I am taking enough. Thanks, My surgeon told me to take 2 of the Flinstones a day, so I take the same amount as you. LapBandit 5 Posted June 4, 2006 My doc told me if we choose to do Flintstones then we should take two because they're measured for children.
disneynut 0 Posted June 4, 2006 Hmmmm. I guess I should ask my doctor, maybe I'm not getting enough Vitamins. I just read the label on the bottle and it lists both children and adults 4 years or older, chew one tablet daily and lists just about everything at 100% of the daily recommended amounts for adults. Mine says the same thing and the serving size is only 1/2 tablet for children 2-3 yrs. Hmmm.....very interesting discovery. They gave me 2 or 3 different papers saying take 2 of them so perhaps it has something to do with weight? Next time I speak to them, I will ask the reason for 2. So many on here take 2 as well. :girl_hug: Now I'm curious.
gentlespirit 1 Posted June 4, 2006 My doc said to take 2 if I used the Flintstones Vitamins, too. I started out with them but didn't like them, so I switched to Viactiv chocolate cherry. I also use the Viactiv chocolate mint calcium chews. I use them after lunch or dinner and they feel like a treat! Emily
GeezerSue 7 Posted June 4, 2006 Okay, AND...a lot of you are taking Calcium Carbonate which is not used as effectively as calcium citrate. And, depending on your age, you may need to supplement the Calcium AND Vitamin D, even if there is some in your multis. Pre-DS, I took two Trader Joe's Childrens' chewables and supplemented the Calcium and D. Now I take a Multivitamins (in DS'er dosages) and special Vitamins that are made for DS'ers who need a special way to get in Vitamins A, D, E and K. And I take about 1600 mg of calcium citrate over and above what's in the multi's. MAY I ADD HERE THAT MY BEST FRIEND IS MOSLTY HOUSEBOUND AND OFTEN IN HORRIBLE PAIN DUE TO OSTEOPOROSIS (NOT WLS-RELATED) AND, EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT AS ETHNICALLY PREDISPOSED TO OSTEOPOROSIS AS SHE IS, IT HAS ME SCARED. LADIES--ESPECIALLY LADIES WITH NORTHERN EUROPEAN ANCESTORS--TAKE ENOUGH OF THE RIGHT CALCIUM AND SAVE YOURSELVES A TON OF HEARTACHE. And, I have found Protica's Profect to be the least objectionable (because it's less than three ounces)--except that it isn't cheap--way to get extra Protein in: http://tinyurl.com/lyccw (Disclosure: I'm now an "affiliate" for the Protein product because I'm buying it for two households. Even if no one else buys any, I save a couple of dollars.) I first became interested because my 82-year-old mother thinks that half of a Healthy Choice Sirloin Tips and Portobellos meal is "enough" food...and wonders why she is losing weight and getting sick. kelli 0 Posted June 4, 2006 Hi Wheetsin! I noticed you are taking an Omega vitamin...how do you take the fishy taste? Have you found a food that disguises it, or are you just amazingly brave? :girl_hug:
Barb 0 Posted June 4, 2006 I take One-A-Day Weight Smart. I break it in half and wait about 10 minutes between halves.
