How much is too much for almost 2 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

I am almost two weeks out and was cleared this week for softs: cottage cheese, string cheese, eggs, etc. I am trying to get all my Protein from food and not shakes. Today I consumed about 435 calories, but this is what I ate:

Breakfast: lite string cheese, 1/2 sm cup of applesauce

(had trouble finishing the cheese)

Lunch: 1/2 C pureed lentil Soup with 1 tblsp greek yogurt; a hour or so later I had 1/4 C egg salad

Snacks: String cheese, 4oz greek yogurt

Dinner: 1/4 tuna salad

I didn't quite meet my Protein goal, but close. Also because I had the two Snacks in there I had a harder time with Water.

I read about all these people that can only eat a tablespoon of food a three weeks, I don't have any problem. 1/4 cup is about my max, but it goes down fine. Same with liquids. Mind you, I am not complaining, but I want to make sure I am not "messing" something up.

I wouldn't be concerned. You just happen to be doing very well. Some people have lots more swelling and that's why they are so limited in the beginning. Sounds like you are doing great!

Wow, my doctor's nutritionist is ultra strict. I can't eat that menu you had until I am 4 weeks out! Glad to hear you are doing well with it.

Me too.... I'm on day 10 and start full liquids today. Musshies start in another 10 days and 'normal' foods at 28 days post op.

I went for my post op at about 9 days, although the handout they gave said week two: yogurt, shakes, string cheese, cottage cheese, refried Beans, eggs. Week three: ground meats, tuna, moist fish, broiled or baked fish or chicken, lunch meat. Week four: soft cooked veggies, cheese, fruits.

I don't feel issues when I eat, I just have been stopping at about a quarter a cup or when I feel (full). I also have read other people mention that when they burp they stop, and I have been following that. I honestly feel I could eat anything right now, but I am keeping everything very soft and moist and plan on continuing that for a couple more weeks to make sure everything is healed.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
