Hey, congrats to u on ur date! I haven't been sleeved yet, but I would love for you to keep us up dated on your journey! I saw the ad on the net for BeLiteWeight. How's that work if you don't mind me asking? Do you pay monthly before your surgery?

Good luck to you!

K

I had my surgery by Dr.Rod and I had a fantastic experience. I was a bit nauseous when I left and a doctor called me for the next four days to make sure all was well.

When I was in the hospital a doctor stayed all night with the nurses in case anything went wrong with any of the patients.

They are competent and caring.

I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Rodriguez July 22nd, so I'll let you know my experience after it's done. I have read mostly good things about Dr. Rod. Lots of people have had Lap-band with him, and that's where I read a lot of information about him and the hospital in Tijuana (which is where I'm going as well).

My sister just had revision surgery last Friday with him, I have not spoke to her yet. I do know that she did very well and thought the revision hurt less than the band. She is flying home today, and I will talk to her then. I will keep you posted. Good luck!

I had surgery with Dr Rod and had a great experience. The hospital staff was great and I was perfectly fine without a travel buddy.

Good luck

My sister just got home today, she said her surgery went great! She said it was so much easier than when she got the band. She said Dr. Rod was great, only saw him before the surgery, but had other Dr's checking in on her. She said the hospital was nice and she was treated very well. I'm so happy for her!! Now she can really start losing weight!

Did your sister take anyone with her when she went? Does she have any advice on packing or things my sister should pack since she is coming with me?

I hope you find this list helpful. : )

Things to bring with you (from Banner Gateway handbook)

Lip Balm

Pillow

Medication List

Robe and Slippers

Loose Clothes (to go home in)

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Deodorant

Lotion or powder

Special Toiletries

CPAP or BIPAP machine

I would add a good book and Gas-X strips. From all of the videos I have watched online this is something that is very helpful to have with you.

My husband and I both had surgery on July 22nd. We definitely recommend him and the whole team. If you have specific questions, you can message me, and I'll be happy to tell you what I can. I will tell you everything went smoothly for us, and we are happy to be sleeved!

I have become more scares of crossing the border than the surgery. With everything on the news I will be happy just to make it to the hospital! My husband isn't helping. Every time he hears something about how bad the borders are getting he tells me ASAP!

How was everyones border crossing experience?

I am not that worried. I live in Montreal, and we get about 5 murders a week, so really.. any bigger city is dangerous!

And..if you google map the hospital, you will see that it is right off the highway, and not in town at all, so I am sure it will be fine!

:sad0:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
