Hi hate to ramble but today I found out that I cannot get my band in July like I thought. It would have been perfect for my job and my husband would have been around too. Now they tell me my ABT is a little high and that means another trip to a pulmanary doctor with the chest -rays etc. and wait another 3 weeks for that appointment. Before they were saying the 3rd week in June and then boom July is booked. It makes me feel sad. I won't gve up but I hope this is not the start of heart aches. Does anyone know what the ABT things are? Thank You and good luck to all who are ready to get your bands, I'll pray for you. Patti:think

Good Luck on your surgery! It seemed like everything was moving along so good and then this. I never had a problem with my lungs. I don't smoke or anything. How come you have to wait 2 months and some? Patti:confused:

Well, I could have had the surgery done on July 11, but I'm going to be on vacation the following week and didn't think it was a good idea to be running around after 2 kids, doing lots of walking, and being in another state just a week after surgery. :girl_hug: So, I decided to wait until August 15 because then my dad will be able to fly in and help with my kids for the week or so after surgery. He's not available before then, and it would have meant my mom and dh would have had to use up all their vacation time just to help me during the recuperation. Dad is semi-retired and can make his own schedule, so him coming up just made more sense to me.

In some ways I'm disappointed that I have to wait so long because I want to get banded and start losing ASAP, but I know waiting is the best decision for me and my family.

Patti and Bug,

You've both already made your decisions to be banded... why not start your journey now and be further down the road when you get your bands? Anyone can stick to a diet for 2 months right? But this time, instead of falling off the diet after 2 months and regaining the weight PLUS more, you'll get banded and jumps leaps and bounds further down the road! Isn't that a great thought?

If you each cut out sugars and flours and just walked 30 mins a day, you'd be in much better shape for surgery AND you wouldn't have to wait to start seeing progress. It all begins when YOU want it to!

I'll be praying for ya both. :girl_hug:

Thank You so much, I am trying to do just that I have lost 3lbs. since looking into this, and really trying to chew well drink the Water and ride my bike more. I need a foot thing done on a heel spur so I may as well do that now. It's making me mad that they never called and just booked it up, and never said there was any problem until I called them. Tommorow night is the support group, I'm going and my husband too. They wanted to give me the 3rd week in June but I sais no due to my job, never will do that again. jobs come and go but my health is more important. I have sunk into depression over this, I read how everyone is losing so fast after thier band and now I have to wait. I think my husband is dissapointed too. does anyone know what the "abt" is it has to do with the pulmanary test they give you? They said mine is a little high. I am glad for the support. Thanks Patti

Awww Patti. Don't let this get you down. All things happen for a reason, and delays in things like this could be there to save your life! I know that Dody has gone through several disappointing events that have caused her surgery to be delayed (knee injury, bad flu, insurance complications, etc). Lo and behold, they just recently found out that she has some serious artery blockage that could have killed her had she had the surgery done without that first being repaired! Thank God for those delays!

I don't know anything about the "abt" stuff. Why don't you give your Dr a call tomorrow and get more information about it. That way you'll not just be getting information about "abt" but about your specific situation with it.

Hang in there.. everything will work out just as it's supposed to. *hugs*

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
