I am 10 weeks post op today. Like many people here, I am thrilled with my sleeve. I lost 16 pounds on my 2 week pre op diet and am down 55 pounds total. I have not had any problems at all and basically eat whatever I want other than I avoid serious carbs. I walk about 10 to 15 miles per week. I also swim in the lake from time to time and have been very active on outside projects. My blood pressure has remained perfect since getting off of my 2 meds 9 days post op. Also, I was diagnosed in December 09 with diabetes and that is gone!! I am very happy that I made the decision to have the surgery. This site is what gave me the information needed to make the decision. Thanks to everyone for the information found here on VST:thumbup:

Kudos on your progress thus far. Keep up your hard work. It's great you don't have to take meds anymore. That's one of the things I'm looking forward to is not having to take my blood pressure meds. Keep us updated. Again job well done.

WOW! How do you have the energy to walk 10 to 15 miles a week. I am so exhausted and tired I can barely get in 5. Please tell me it gets better! :willy_nilly:

I have always had pretty good stamina with walking, even when I was at my heaviest. I am fortunate that I have been able to eat enough to keep up my energy levels and the energy is better now after losing weight. Hang in there, you will get there.

Congrats, Kelly. Your stats are close to mine .. I am 8 week post-op and down 63 pounds as of this morning. I am not exercising like you though .. I am still coming out this exhaustion fog that I have read a number of people had post-op. I hope that clears soon. You are doing so well .. way to go!

Congrats Kelly: I had my surgery on April 26th. I am down forty pounds and I feel great. I am off my blood pressure meds and my diabete's is gone. It is a tool to use. But, it makes you lose weight. I miss eating sometimes. It was and is a hugh part of my life. I just can't eat the volumn I use to. I now understand why they say that you mourn food. It is such a large part of what we do in this country. We celeberate everything with food. I like the fact that I can breath, sleep and move so much easier. I enjoy the fact that I can buy regular clothes. No more visits to the big girl department. Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
