ichefmastersgirl 4 Posted June 17, 2010 I am about 10 weeks out of my band to sleeve revision and doing well lost 31 lbs so far (115 lbs total with band). And then yesterday I found out I was pregnant!! This is the reason I wanted to lose the weight and get healthy and yes it is a great blessing I could not be happier. But I am scared to death! I am losing about 2 to 3lbs every week and they want that to slow down a bit. So they want me to eat more......WHAT eat more I cant get down the crap I need to eat NOW. Drs. want me to drink at least 3 Protein shakes and 3 to 4 meals a day.....it is impossible. So if anyone has any ideas or have gone through this please HELP! I am stopping the personel training and the gym will just take walks around the block. I think this might be a lot worse then the 30 day post op diet:001_tt2:

Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted June 18, 2010 okay, find things you can eat. you need to do this for your baby. You can have a spoonful of Peanut Butter, string cheese, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, try the ricotta bake recipe in the food section on this forum. Even if you only eat 3 bites every hour, it will help your growing baby. Have you tried the Syntrex nectar Protein drinks? They aren't milky and quite a few people like them. You can order some samples from the thread in the food section Places to Order Protein samples. Oh and OH Yeah Protein Bars are really good. Order from vitacost.com The Peanut Butter choc. ones are my favorite. They are sort of like a kit kat bar.
Tiffykins 673 Posted June 19, 2010 You gotta get out of ketosis NOW. Eat a sandwich, you can not stay low carbing it at all. Get to a high risk ob/gyn asap, and get some baseline blood work done. My surgeon/nutritionist/PCP said to drop any Protein supplements which I never used anyway, but you have got to focus on solid, healthy, balanced diet. My guidelines for pregnancy, are 1500-1800 calories,60- 100gr of Protein, unlimited carbs from veggies, fruit, whole grains. This is essentially what I'm eating to maintain. Ketosis can cause fetal brain damage. You can not play around with ketosis and pregnancy. I'm not trying to scare you, but it's the downright truth. The baby will get what it needs from you and your body, and you need to ensure that your body stays healthy during the pregnancy. Best wishes, and many congrats. We are currently TTC, and can't wait until we can share the exciting news. You'll do great.
SouthernSleever 228 Posted June 19, 2010 Congrats on your pregnancy. Like Tiff said get out of Ketosis and get some GOOD carbs in. Those good carbs supply O2 to the brain. Make sure that every bite that goes into your mouth counts. Your baby will get what he or she needs from you, it is your body that will suffer. That said take good care of your teeth and congrats!! breezy 8 Posted June 19, 2010 Congratulations on the happy news! I don't have anything to add, but I knew the group (especially Tiff because she is planning to have a child) would have some good advice for you. Tiff: I knew you wanted to have a baby but I didn't think you were pregnant yet. Are you?
ichefmastersgirl 4 Posted June 19, 2010 So I am lucky to get in 1000cal I was never low carving so ok there tested to see if was in ketosis just to make sure! My question is why did they say no Protein Shakes? They told me to drink 2 to 3 a day! Feeling good just some fatigue!
Tiffykins 673 Posted June 19, 2010 Tiff: I knew you wanted to have a baby but I didn't think you were pregnant yet. Are you? Not yet. We're still trying, but we're on the "Let Go and Let God" for the time being. It was just too stressful for me to be charting and all that good stuff. I am going to start using a fertility monitor to make sure I'm ovulating properly. So I am lucky to get in 1000cal I was never low carving so ok there tested to see if was in ketosis just to make sure! My question is why did they say no Protein shakes? They told me to drink 2 to 3 a day! Feeling good just some fatigue! My nutritionist just advised against using them, and trade them in for eating solid food. If your medical team says for you to use them, then you'll need to follow their directions. Most of the high quality ones have amino acids which are good for us, but my nut and surgeon both stressed eating Iron rich foods, dense Proteins, lots of veggies such as avocados, sweet potatoes, fresh spinach, broccoli, any type of greens. They feel like Protein Shakes take up room when I could be using that space and time to consume more Water, and solid foods.

NtvTxn 1,262 Posted June 20, 2010 Hello from Galveston Tiffany! Week #2, I'm recovering at the beach. Gotta kill time before my 2nd follow up visit with the doc. Anyway, this has nothing to do with a baby, but you said you never used Protein supplements. Yay, I cannot, I have tried. The taste was killing me. I am a week out as of yesterday, I have not had to use my medication for naseau at all, I have not been sick at all. I don't want to start now. I can spend hours trying to get a shake down....I finally gave up because I was freaking out about Water, and just focused on liquids that I could do, crystal lite, Water and Sobe. Anyway, this week I can have liquid yogurt and anything that will 'go through a straw' so i'm being creative. Greek yogurt, plain, I'm adding Weight Watchers Key Lime or whatever for flavor and then skim milk to thin it. Blend it and there ya go. I can only do this once a day, and am only using half the Greek yogurt. It's not enough. I've added boiled shrimp to Campbell's healthy choice chicken gumbo Soup and blended it, but I'm not hungry. I'm eating about an eighth of a cup once or twice a day. Do you have any suggestions? The good news is, I'm down 30 lbs since my first meeting with my doctor back on Apr. 6th. :biggrin0: Thanks Tiff! Some people add the unflavored Protein to Soups, the yogurts, etc. Honestly, I didn't even worry about protein. I didn't get it in on a consistent basis until I hit mushies. It's not ideal, but it's what I had to do to stay hydrated. You can add sugar free pudding mix (the powder) to greek yogurt. The white chocolate or cheesecake flavor tastes fabulous.
