And also how long till you were up and kickin' again? About 3 weeks post-op I have a trip to take and I'm hoping I can make it. Thanks in advance. LEAH

Hi Leah.

The week and a half you have before your surgery date will go by very quickly and be here before you know it. I kept busy by cleaning the house and buying all the things I needed for after surgery. I made sure that anything that was heavy that needed to be put away or moved I did so. I filled up the dog food bin because I knew those 20 pound bags wouldn't move later.

I took one week off from work and I was ready to go back. You will see when you are recovering from surgery that everything on tv has to do with food and it drove me crazy. The second week back to work, I was really tired from the middle of the day on but the pain was pretty much gone by then. I would say by the third week, the exhaustion was gone and I was completely back to normal. Good luck with your pre-op and your surgery. Hope you have a quick recovery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
