Three weeks+ stall, Help

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on May 6/2010. Everything was fine until I star the third week when I stall, now this is my 5th week that means three weeks stall (and counting). I went to the nutritionist last week and we review what I'm eating but the only adjust was to replace the Snacks for the Protein Shakes, I'm eating right, I'm drinking most of the time my liquids and I'm exercising. this is what I think I'm suppose to do but it is not working. Any suggestions? Somebody with a problem like this? Thanks.

yes it is pretty normal, but continue doing your exercises, and eating the way you are, don't lose hope, you'll start seeing results when you least expect it. be patient.

From what I've read on the boards it is normal.....dn't forget your body goes thru so much in surgery, and you'll loose an initial amount from Fluid retention, your body will then go into a bit of protective mode and hold onto weight... but it'll drop off again if you follow your advice.

Also don't forget we go from totally empty bowels to being filled up again, and surely that has to weigh something! ;o)

Good luck and stick with it - I've already warned my hubby about stalling so he is expecting it and won't think its me not doing the work!

How much fluids are you getting in each day? Calories? Are you counting your carbs? Can you tell us what kind of things you're eating on a daily basis?

It's completely reasonable to get discouraged when things are not going your way. And yet, as reasonable as it may be, getting discouraged and staying discouraged won't do you any good.

Fortunately, you don't always have to be reasonable. You can choose to meet every setback not with discouragement, but with hope and positive passion and enthusiasm for moving forward.

There's always a next step that you can take, so take it. Sure, that next step may not work out, and yet it is infinitely better than giving up.

Life's greatest successes will often defy reason. Even when there is no logical, reasonable way, there is a way.

Your mind and its reasoning ability are amazingly powerful. And yet, there is more to life than just reason.

When you must, go beyond reason and feel the positive driving passion of your purpose. Feel the passion, persist through every challenge, and bring your dream to life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
