In hospital every juice they gave me was with ice, but I found it much better without.... and am looking forward to my first infusion tea, as i think i am one that prefers hot to cold.....I'll certainly be trying tea first thing tomorrow instead of cold juice.

And if I see another pineapple juice I will scream!! :scared0:

Hot was definitely my preference in the beginning. The warmth seemed to soothe my healing tummy. Enjoy your tea!

I got sleeved the 7th, and I too prefer hot/warm liquids. My favorite non-protein liquid is General Foods International french vanilla cafe (it's sugar free and decaffeinated) and is ohhh sooo good! I've been searching through the comments of the new sleevers and have been suprised how well all of you are doing. I must admit the pain is not too bad, but I feel like poop. It's getting better though. Anyone getting winded easily?

It was delicious (Cherry and cinnamon).... and went down very well thanks!

Kimber - I feel like poop too.... we have 34 steps up to our house, and at the moment I can walk around the garden, but don't want to face them again just yet, having only arrived home at midday.

Tomorrow I shall talk the dog out down the road on the flat and see how i get on, as around the block for us involves a steep hill....so either can be up or down depending which was you go... but theres no way I can contemplate that yet.

I am looking forward to each day feeling an improvement on the last - and remember we are in it for the long haul.... you don't want to push yourself too far too soon.

i thought the warm was more soothing, but the broth in the hospital was too greasy and salty. Hubby brought some home that I will try. I have a hard time even drinking the Water in 1/4 cup increment. I have to use a timer to remind me to drink it. I still feel poopy too. Lying down is quite painful with the diaphram contractions.

I was sleeved on Tuesday the 8th, and I don't have a whole lot of energy yet. I came home Wednesday evening, and Thursday I needed a couple of naps to make it through the day. Yesterday was better, I walked the dogs, did laundry, cooked a few meals, etc, but I was very drained. I finally called my doc's office yesterday afternoon because my post-op diet is clears only. He had mentioned to me that I could have Protein shakes, but my discharge instructions and the nurse at his office said "Clears only". I had them verify with the doc and he said shakes were OK! Yippeee!!!! I had one this morning, and what a difference it made in my energy level today. I used the Jay Robb and mixed it with 3oz of Mootopia milk (lactose free and 12g Protein a cup), 3oz of Water, and 1Tblsp on SF caramel Syrup. It was quite good! It took me an hour to drink it, but this way it was only 6-8 oz (when you add the powder) and it had aprox 28-29g protein.

I have that SF french vanilla coffee (and the mocha), and I have been dying to try it, but wasn't sure if it would be OK at this stage. Kinber, how did it sit with you?

Sparkle, I had a honey vanilla (no cal) chamomile tea and it was devine. I too like warm better than cold.

Keep up the good work ladies and sip sip sip, walk walk walk!

The coffee mix goes down easier than any lukewarm Water or Protein for me. I only have had a cup a day. It's my favorite thing at this moment!:D

Hey Surgery buddy - hows it going? Good to hear from you. I took a nap at home today and managed it on my side but needed time to adjust before getting back up again with my drain site being sore.

Drinkwise I think I will just have to have something on the go the whole time!! I've had to draw up a chart for my drugs!! lol

Good luck

Texas chick - sounds like you're doing fine hun.

Has anyone tried warming up the 'cold' Protein Shakes ? Can you make them with warm Water or milk?? Just a thought, surely someone has tried it. My Optifast does come in a creamed veg variety but I didn't fancy it pre op, but i have some clear cup-a-soups which I can use for a savoury hit.

Hey Ladies, I am almost 5 weeks post op and still get winded. I live in a 3 story townhouse and laundry is on the bottom floor (did I mention I am a single Mom and have 3 kids???) so I have enlisted my children's help in doing anything that involves climbing stairs and carrying things.

I find that I have more energy in the morning. I work full time outside the home so during the week, lots of chores just do not get done and I have had to accept that for the time being (I am a clean freak normally and can't leave my house untidy). I have accepted that the laundry, the dishes, the vacuuming can all wait until the weekend.

You will gain some energy back once you can switch to more regular, high Protein foods but I think with any surgery and being adults, recovery is a long process. Just because our incisions and drain holes have healed, doesn't mean WE are healed, it just takes time.

I can say that my weight loss and progress are slow and steady and I am so glad I made this choice to change my life. I have had days where I did not know how I was going to adjust to the very little food I am able to eat but my body has shown me that I don't need all of that food to survive and in fact, the Protein first, everything else after is how I eat everyday. I am eating better than I ever have.

One of the best things about the Sleeve is that if you feel that you have had a bad day, maybe you didn't follow the plan well one day, you wake up the next morning and guess what, you get to do it again, the Sleeve will be there everyday for you to start over! And messing up now is not an entire chocolate cake, it might be a few bites if that! Even on days when I might lick the Peanut Butter off my finger from making my kids a sandwich and feel bad for that, I still see a loss (when before the sleeve, I would have had at least a few tablespoons of Peanut Butter and God knows what else before I stopped and then feel horrible and see the scale go up).

Congrats to everyone for taking this step to a healthier, happier you!

So glad we are all here to support each other! I certainly benefit everyday from reading your posts and sharing my experiences!

Have a great Sunday!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
