What do you mean "you make yourself gag"? Are you saying that you force yourself to gag as in throw up?

if you're on the post op liquid diet, it's very common. They say liquids in liquids out.

After you're on solid food, people tend to go the other direction.

Please clarify. If you didn't mean that YOU force yourself to gag and that since the surgery you find you gag, I gagged for nearly 3 months maybe more, every morning when I brushed my teeth and/or gargled. Just the Water hitting my tongue made me gag and dry heave. So far not one doctor could give me any explaination for it :D...troublesome when surgeon, PCP, gastro, or ENT(2)---are clueless.

If you are forcing yourself to gag I strongly suggest you stop before you do harm to your body.

he means that before surgery, his sh*t stank, but now it's so smelly after surgery it makes him gag!

i think it might be because liquid stools tend to be smellier. i agree with a poster above me, i think it will change after you eat more solid foods!

get a gas mask in the meantime!

LOL Thank you Big! You beat me to that explanation for LAN. I knew right from the beginning what TB was talking about and was hoping some one else would clear it up for her before I did in just about the same terminology that you used! :)

@ TB- I cant tell you when it will get better post-op cus I'm not there yet but what I can say is Good Luck with that! Get some strong candles and even stronger air freshener and put both in arms reach for time being! :wink0:

I sympathize with your situation, yes it does appear to be a more potent non-lethal way of attacking myself. You should do what I do, take a fan into the throne room and blow the gas out into areas where it makes other people gag. Ha

Yes, I am almost 6 months out and even my gas is dangerous now...LOL!!!

I think in my case it has to do with all the Atkins Protein Bars I consume. The more of them I eat, the more gas I have and the worse everything smells...LOL!

If you look at the label of ingredients and it contains sucralose aka splenda---that is what is producing the noxious gaseous expulsions. I refuse to eat any artificial sweetener. Stevia, (brand I like is "Stevia in the raw) works GREAT to sweeten anything and there are quality Protein Bars out there which are free of genetically altered industrial substances that taste sweet.

OK no offense intended here LADIES, but this is a MAN's room. I'm sure every guy who came in here totally understood what TBTROY ment when he said gag and rank in the same sentance. I find it pretty interesting how a guy asks a question in this part of the forum and 20 women are right there with the answer, be it stinking up the bathroom or how big is Mr. Winky after you lose the weight.

The dog gets a lot of blame in my house.

I've always wondered what goes on in the ladies room. Two by two like Noah's Ark and seems there are always glasses, blackberrys, bracelets, rings, etc being found or lost. What do they do in there?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
