OK, I can't stand Isopure, any other ideas

Recommended Posts

I am two days out from surgery and I tried to drink Isopure, and Cytomax but I can't get past the smell of Isopure and Cytomax is too sweet, even cut with Water.

Any other Protein thoughts? My nut says clears until next Thurs, but my doc said shakes were Ok, not sure what the story is??

I did Unjury unflavored mixed with crystal light (to hide the flavor). I dont think you can buy unjury in stores though.... maybe you could have it overnighted

I too couldn't get past the smell and taste of Protein powders. What FINALLY worked for me was the unjury chicken Soup. It's a little salty in flavor, but none of the issues I had with other Proteins. It is 21 grams of Protein.

I also use [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Instantized-Protein-2-7-Pound/dp/B000GIUQOG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1276226079&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: 100% Any whey Protein: Health & Personal Care[/ame] and add 1/2 scoop to my yogurt and or sugar free Cocoa powder. I cannot taste it at all and it boosts my protein by 8.5 grams.

Good luck in finding what works for you. I know it was a struggle for me and many others.

Are you using the Isopure ready-made (which are clear liquids)? It took me trying several flavors to find a couple that I could tolerate. I liked the grape frost, and have even mixed some grape kool-aid to "beef-up" the flavor. I bought several brands of Protein powders, and would drink them when I forced myself, but really preferred the ready-made. One think I found I could drink in the beginning was cold coffee mixed with a chocolate powder and shaken with crushed ice. My doc considered that a clear liquid.

The Vitamin Shoppe and GNC have lots of Protein drinks in the cooler that you can buy just one of to try. That's what I did with the Isopure to find a flavor I liked. Good luck in your quest!

Glad you asked I feel the same way! okay, Vitamin Shoppe is where i got it. Jay Robb unflavored whey Protein Powder. It disolves in cold and warm Water but not hot water. Melt your buillon cube and wait a bit. Put a scoop of the powder in a large enough saucepan with the buillon in it and use a wisker to break it up. Takes a few minutes but totally melts! and no taste at all except the buillon!!! I am so excited. I am 5 days out. good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
