Dawn NH 0 Posted June 2, 2006 I have had three fills total. My first fill was great, no pain easy. My second fill was terrible. It hurt and took several attempts to get the right angel into the port. It was however successful once in the right place. My third fill, there were seven attempts in my Dr.'s office, none painful, and then she sent me to have a fill under x-ray. It is amazing to watch the process. you can feel my port, but where you feel it, and where they access it are very different. The fill under x-ray was quick, and painless. I am not going to allow several attempts in the office again, now that I know how easy it is under x-ray. Just wanted to share so if others have painful or difficult "blind" fills, x-ray is an option and it is wonderful!!!!
jucyc 0 Posted June 2, 2006 dawn that is the only way the office i go to does it. I can't think how they could do it without. It really does work well and like you said it's cool to see.
Dawn NH 0 Posted June 2, 2006 My Dr has you come into her office, and lay down. She feels for the outline of the port, then has you lift your legs up and hold them. This makes the port stand out more. Once she has that she gets the needle with one hand, keeping her other hand on the port outline, and has you lift your legs again and then can usually insert the needle into the port. The process is very cool when I think about not having the visual x-ray to go in, but if your port is tipped as mine is the process is a bit painful : )

YngGram 73 Posted October 18, 2009 I have an x-ray fill scheduled tomorrow. My first was this way and the second in July was by the PA without a problem. It is the practice of my doc to do it this way when there has been some time in between fills. This allows them to check for band slippage. Also the fill can be more aggressive this way since they can see how much restriction there is.
kiz 1 Posted October 18, 2009 where can I get a fill by x ray in southern california or indianapolis indiana Hi Margo, and welcome to the forum. You could be lucky and someone who knows the answer to your question will read this thread, but you might want to start your own thread with the info you want in the title. Also, are you looking for an after-care doctor, or are you just trying to find a one time fill center that will give you a fill under fluoro?
Enchanted 2 Posted October 19, 2009 I'm always numbed before my fills - never any discomfort from them. They do an ultrasound before the fill, mark the location and a minute or so later, I'm on my way.

1960PoodyTood 0 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) When I had my first fill, the needle went in where my long incision is on the middle of my stomach... I could have sworn my Dr. In Mexico told me my port was located on my left side? Did they go in the wrong place?
