SO I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm desperate. For the whole first month post op, I was totally fine. I was able to eat, drink my liquids and be merry. Now, for the past two weeks, I've been dead ill. Throwing up everyday, hospitalized twice for dehydration and now its not so bad, but its comin back. I'm working on keeping my Fluid intake ok, but I'm sick!! All the Protein Drinks make me sick and when I was eating, I made sure to eat high Protein foods to get my daily intake. now, I'm lucky if i can stay hydrated. The dr said be patient and it will pass and gave me some meds but I'm ready to give up......although how you give up on the pouch I still haven't figured out. HELP PLEASE!!! What should I be doing?!?!?!

Hi there,

I completely understand where your coming from. I was sleeved on 4/21/10 and everytime I eat something I throw it right up. I've tried eating slower, going back to mushies and last week, I was in the hospital for 5 days because my blood pressure was so low and I was so dehydrated. I'm praying that I didn't make a bad decision by getting sleeved. I hear all these great success stories and I feel so far away from them. I'd love to hear some motivation from some of the older sleevers.

Thanks in advance,

Daisy

you guys are not alone. I am also 6 weeks out and have been suffering from the vomiting/nausea since week 2. My surgeon says it is probably scar tissue in the stomach and is at it's toughest around 6 weeks. I am also trying to look at the brighter side. It has been horrible and I have been in bed for weeks. I know I need Protein but some days I can hardly eat or drink anything. Hang in there, that's all we can do and hope later we will reflect and say that was just a short time we suffered to get to the goal!

I could cry. Im just glad to know I'm not the only one. My doc is always going on about the pouch healing but never mentioned that the scar tissue is at its hardest at 6 weeks. That would explain a lot. I'm bed ridden as well, lethargic even. I'm tired with no energy cuz I can't consume anything with calories. If its scar tissue, at least there's hope that it will pass in another week or two. The prescriptions help a little but not much and I'm sick of hospitals so I'm tryin to drink but man, the throwing up is killing me.

hi ladies,

I was wondering if you have had any relief with the nausea? Sad to say I'm starting week 9 and no relief or me. Still struggling through it. Any new info? I battled a kidney stone last week and I'm trying to get back on track. Thanks

My doctor recommended unisom and Vitamin b6 together for nausea they use it for morning sickness. Worth a try? Unisom active ingredient is a histamine blocker which most OTC sleep aids are.

Sorry to hear you are all so ill. While I haven't experienced nausea with my sleeve, when I had horrible nausea last fall I went to the drugstore and bought these things called PsiBands which are sort of like watchbands you put on your wrists and press on a pressure point between your wristbones that can help alleviate nausea. There are other brands like SeaBands and BioBands too.

I thought it was some bogus hippie thing, but it really did work for me. Apparently they are used by some hospitals and doctors for people undergoing chemo, women with morning sickness, people with seasickness, etc.

You can also just press on the spot between your wristbones with your fingers. How to Stop Nausea With Acupressure - wikiHow

I wore my bands all day and it helped, and whenever I started to feel some breakthrough nausea, I'd press down on the bands to exert a bit extra pressure on the pressure point and it'd let up within a few minutes. It wasn't a 100% foolproof cure, but it definitely made my days and nights a lot more bearable and allowed me to get down more sustenance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
