Hospital Stay

Hello All,

So after 4 long weeks of battling with my PCP for a letter for the insurance company I finally got a good letter after 3 tries. I called the insurance company and they told me I was approved, but they told me I was going as an outpatient. I'm a little worried being that my doctor told me I was to expect a 2 day stay. Can I get the surgery and come home the same day? By the way I have Oxford.

I did mine as outpatient and had no issues. Talk with your surgeon and see what he says. If there are complications, there should not be a problem with him admitting you & your insurance should pay for the bed with complications.

If your surgeon is insistent on a 2-night stay & insurance says outpatient (assuming no complications), your surgeon's office should be able to get you a quote on the hospital charges. Maybe you could pay that yourself?
