Curves anyone?

Recommended Posts

I really hate exercising. But I was thinking that joining Curves might be much better for me than joining a gym. Has anyone any thoughts on Curves?

I use a curves gym on my lunch break from work. These are my thoughts

Pros:

Its efficient and works every muscle in your body in minimal time

Its not a very intense work out so I can go back to work after

Its All women

Cons:

At least at my gym... everyone wants to talk and its more social than working out.

The music makes me crazy

Most curves arent open on sundays

If I want a "real" workout I go to my other gym.... It's just not that intense, but Its a good way to move my muscles durring the work day.

Its been a few years since I went so I don't know if the program is all the same, but I felt like it was not adequate, even when I wasn't in very good shape I didn't feel like I was getting a good workout.

I agree with Anna 100%. Stacy made a good point that I recall very vividly. It is a lot of socializing. If I'm going to workout, pay for a membership, I want to bury my mind and body into it. I don't want to know about the daily drama with your neighbor who is screwing the gardener.

LOL! Though I am quite sure that my neighbor is not having an affair with the gardener!

I actually think that friendly chat while going from station to station at Curves may be a very good thing. I am not looking to work out "intensely" or train for an athletic competition. I am a very heavy woman who is now losing weight and trying to find a way to break this cycle of sedentary living. I doubt I will ever be a work-out junky. But even if that were to be me someday, it sure isn't now. Curves seems like a low-key, friendly environment that may be well suited for a beginner like me.

Reviiiivaaallll! I'm thinking of going back to curves. If you don't work hard at the machines you don't get a workout due to them being hydraulics. I would go nuts on those machines lol, my firstm onth i lost an inch everywhere and was starting to tone immediately.

So, yeah, I want to go back to curves! If someone natters at me I just tell them I can't talk I have asthma. ;D

I went to Curves 3 days a week for over a year and loved it. The days in between I either walked or did a workout video at home. I thought it was great, I only quit because where I work now has a free on-site gym. I usually went during lunch and there would only be one or two people there.
