Pensacola Area Surgeon

Recommended Posts

Dr. Robert M. Althar, of Pace, Florida performed my surgery utilizing the single incision type of surgery. I could not be more pleased with his deft, delicate surgery. In fact, I never had a need for any pain medication.

He knows about the VSG as his receptionist/front desk person and Dr. Althar himself have had the procedure. If you live within a couple of hours drive of Pace Florida (near Pensacola), and are considering the VSG it might be worth the drive.

No, I am not a paid employee, just a happy patient.

My mom is going to use him next year. His self pay price is good too. I think it was $11,700.00 Not bad for the US

Jerry, I'm so ecstatic that you had a great experience with Dr. Althar. Melissa, his receptionist, is just about the sweetest, most genuine, and caring human I know. I researched Dr. A extensively because of his VSG experience. The most admirable trait is that they admitted due to my band complications that I should find a surgeon with more experience with bands and band removal. I found that to be so honorable. My insurance would not cover VSG by a civilian, nor a revision, so I was looking at him for self-pay. They could have easily taken mine money, and told me that he was comfortable doing the revision. I was highly impressed with him, and his office staff.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
