April 2006 Bandits June Gab Fest

Recommended Posts

Ok, I can no longer find our thread so I'm starting a new one. ;)

How's our gang doing? Things are moving slowly here, but that's ok. It's been TOM so I was expecting that this week. I did get my second fill scheduled. It's June 19th. The first fill has been pretty good, some days I really don't care if I eat but then I have days where it's "Where's the fridge?":hungry:

I have my 20th year high school reunion in a week. :faint:

I'm looking forward to seeing people, and even though I'm not as small as I was 10 years ago, I'm smaller than I was 2 months ago. All I have to do now is finding something "dressy casual" for our big dinner. I have no idea what that means, but I'm sure I'll find something. I need something new but I also don't want to spend a lot of money on it because I don't plan on wearing it often. I want this to be a one time outfit.

So that's about all that's happening here. How about the rest of you?

I just had my first fill yesterday... I am all gurgly with my Protein drink this morning, and it is pretty funny to hear it gurgle down. People at work are getting a kick out of it.

I am crossing my fingers that this fill helps get the weight loss started, I have not lost anything except the pre-op weight. It is pretty depressing.

Have fun at your reunion. Go for something special to wear. I understand that you wouldn't want to spend alot on the outfit because it won't fit you for long, but you only have a 20th reunion once.

I met with my nutritionist for the first time since surgery and she is pleased with my progress. I get my first fill on Tuesday, June 6th and am looking forward to it. I'm glad the summer weather is here (except for the bugs - ick) so I can do the outside yard work. I used to hate doing the outside work, but now I love it, planting flowers and a garden, mowing, etc. I would rather do that than clean the house. It's so much easier to eat good food in the summertime with all the fresh and local fruits and vegetables. When it's hot, I don't like to eat larger, heavier meals, something light and easy. I'm hoping that I will lose lots of weight these next few months. I am planning to go to Las Vegas in the fall and I want to fit in the airline seat comfortably for once without having to put the armrest up and not to have to ask for a seat belt extender - this is my goal for now.

Have fun at your reunion. I wouldn't go to one of mine if you paid me. I don't have any fond memories of high school, I always felt like an outsider. I hope all of our April group is well and progressing downward nicely.

Hey gang!

My reunion is one week away so today I went shopping for "dressy casual". I came home with FOUR outfits and THREE pairs of shoes. I haven't a clue as to which outfit to wear for the big party on Saturday.

I need some help in deciding what to wear but can't post pics until tomorrow. (I hope) There's no one here to take the pics once I get dressed, but my nephew is flying in tomorrow and I get to pick him up at the airport. YEA! He doesn't know it yet, but he's going to take the pics.

I actually had fun trying on clothes this time. I tried on sizes I haven't even thought about in a while. And the best part of the whole process is that everything was on SALE! Now I just have to decide what to wear and then return the rest.

Speaking of clothes, I'm looking forward to cleaning out my closet on the way down. I must have everything from sizes 26 to 12 stuffed in there! Hoping not to buy anything new until I arrive at my goal.

Hi April Bandits!

I was banded 4-18-06 and got the VG with a 4cc fill at surgery. I haven't had a post-op fill yet but I NEED ONE!! I can tell my tummy is healed because I am hungry all the time and I can eat way more than I could earlier. I hope I'm not wasting time by not already having a fill. I am hoping to get the most out of this summer. I'm not super-impressed with the weight loss so far but I think my perception of success need altered. I have to remember that slower is better but I want to get this ball rolling!! :girl_hug:

I feel good so far and haven't PB'ed or Slimed yet although my doctor said it will happen to everyone at least once. Well, good luck with class reunions and I hope everyone is doing good too. I like having our own "Bandit Class of '06" to keep in touch with!

Hey Picardy it is nice to see you around here...............our first official bandster!!!!

I am fine everyone this end, had my first fill, feeling ok, but have to be careful what I eat, 'cos a lot of things are hurting to go down. I am back flying now, just done my second trip.........bellies bloat a bit in the air and I am having to be careful about putting things into my mouth without thinking........and ended up in the toilet a couple of times not feeling good.

Have put away the scales for now, as I was over-obsessing with the numbers, but need new trousers for work now and just fitted into my denim skirt again, very exciting, wish I was eating a bit better now!

Lots of hugs to everyone

Hello everyone

I had my 1st fill on May 3rd it was 1.6cc I started with 4cc in my VG band so I'm at 5.6cc.. well I need a fill again.. I'll be going in 2 weeks.. I notice I can eat way more and things are going down too easy. I hope I get a good fill that will work for more than 1 month.. have any of you reached "your sweet spot?" I have yet to experience that. When I first got my fill it was about 1 week before my TMO but I have PCOS so it is a never ending cycle..lol I'm not sure if you lose restriction while your on it or if you should get tighter? I haven't gained any weight since surgery but I'm still down only 24 lbs.. anyway good luck to you all

Well my fellow bandits I was banded on April 21 I went today and had my first fill (1.5cc) and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be at all. It was actually pretty painless. So I am back on liquids for 24 hours and then back to mushies and regular food. I'm excited I lost another 6lbs since eating regular food before fill. So that is 35lbs all together in less than 2 months. LETS GO APRIL BANDITS!!!!!!!!!

Well, I hadn't had that much fun shopping in such a long time that I couldn't help myself. ;) But I have my receipts for EVERYTHING and whatever I don't wear I'm taking back to the stores because I'm gonna need new clothes in a month or two anyway. :biggrin1:

I'm taking everything to my parent's house this weekend and I'm gonna let mom help me make a decision about what actually looks best.

Oh, and the shoes!!!! My all time favorite shoe store is DSW. I used to be safe because the closest stores were 1/2 hour to 1 hour away from me. Well, they opened one up in MY town a few months ago. I have to be sooooooo careful because I can hear the shoes calling my name. They love to see me come in there.

I also had my first fill today! Good thing I didn't worry myself in advance, because there was almost nothing to it. Took a few seconds and hurt not at all. I'm hoping that I will experience this mysterious "restriction."

Hi all. I'm back from my trip to Maine and am down another 3 lbs. I am due to get my first fill on Thursday but am having second thoughts. We are leaving Monday to visit some friends in Wisconsin. I don't want to be miserable my whole visit with the food issue as to what I can eat. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Congratulations to all you big losers (35 lbs) and LapBandit, 56 lbs loss is unbelievable. I can't believe that you are not happy with your loss. I wish it were me!!! To the rest of us slower losers, keep up the good work!!!!!!

Hello my fellow April Bandits,

I was banded on April 4, 2006, and I had my 1st fill on May 18th of 1cc and my 2nd fill of .3cc on June 1, 2006. Restriction is pretty good as I don't want to look at or smell food until 12:00 noon or so. It's amazing as my whole perception of food has changed and I am loving every minute of it. I wish you all much success and lets stay in touch!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
