Could this be a new wierd side effect?

Recommended Posts

I just had surgery on 6/15 and arrived home yesterday. I noticed immediately that I was cold all the time because I was always hot before. I just raised the temp on my AC to 74 and keep going out on the porch to get warm. I can't attribute it to weight loss because I just had the surgery 4 days ago.

That is a very common side-effect of surgery and most of what I have read from others tells me that a lot of people experience this. I did as well to the point of wearing socks to bed and sweaters in the daytime and I never used to do that. I think it wanes after awhile but I do notice that I get much chillier very quickly now. Rapid weight-loss will do that to you.

I keep getting really hot and then really cold and then really hot, back and forth. Mostly cold though, because I can tolerate being cold longer than I can being hot. My bedsheets are tied in knots from me flipping them of and on all night, yeesh!

Yes, I used to sweat even in 60 degree weather and I live in L.A. and it has been over 70. I am not hot! I was freezing one morning and had to stay under the covers. I get cold so easily. so it doesn't seem weird that you are, don't worry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
