July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Yep,

Everyone steer clear of the mall on the 11th of July. In fact, our husbands may get years of payback. LOL

I will be banded on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 with Dr. Cirangle in San Francisco, CA. It will be a 5 hour trip from my home in Oregon but worth it since he is a good surgeon and handles higher BMI and higher weight patients. I am nervous and excited all at the same time.

My surgery is July 5th with Dr. Singh in Baltimore at St.Agnes Hospital.

I don't have a pre-op diet-- just no solid foods after 8pm the night before and liquids until 12 midnight that night. Then afterwards, I have a 2 week liquid diet, 2 week mushies, and 2 weeks semi hard food...

Funny, I have the same as you. No pre-op diet and the same plan as you for aftercare. From what some say, we must consider ourselves lucky. :clap2:

haha i know what you mean... i think we are lucky... we get to have the liquid diet when we are doped up on medication and don't feel like eating... so we are thinking less about food and our stomach is already smaller so it takes less to fill. My mom hasn't complained one bit yet about the liquids (but its only been since monday) so hopefully it won't be too bad. I like the Protein Shakes anyway!

One week from tomorrow and I'll be in Mexico. Definitely starting to get really nervous. Aside from a few white knuckling moments the pre op is fine now. I think after a few days you really do get used to it. I'm sooooo excited but the butterflies are swirling.

My best friend, Almostready76 is getting it done the same day as me. We get to go together and it will sure be nice to have someone there.

The list is long of people that are going in July...which will make it great down the road for feedback and encouragement.

Good luck to anyone that is going in the next few days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
