Globetrotter 1,340 Posted June 2, 2010 It's a given that salt and hot spicey chilies are a no-go in the immediate aftermath of surgery, but what about other herbs and spices? Herbs de Provence, Tarragon, Safron, Sweet Basil. If I'm going to have to live off baby food for a few weeks it would help if I could make it interesting. Also, there is a tea out there called Kombucha which is supposedly really good for your digestion, bowels, etc. I don't know if I believe that but does anyone know if it's okay to drink? nheady 0 Posted June 8, 2010 I am 7 weeks out from my surgery and am starting to venture out a bit. I have tried a Kombucha drink and have determined that it will have to be an acquired taste for me. In looking at internet articles, I'm not sure exactly how good it can be for you, as I could not find any articles where the nutritional or health values have been proven. However, I am willing to try it again, enough to see if it helps me feel better. I have tried a little bit of herbs in some of my food, like a little basil or parsley and have had no ill effects. I would try a little at a time to see how well you tolerate it. And the baby-food stage will pass soon enough.
