NadiaLinISgoing2beThin 0 Posted June 1, 2010 I've been told that my PCP or any for that matter, won't touch me here in the states after having VSG in Mexico. Is this true? also... I've been asked, "why would you have surgery and risk your life? If you just ate small portions and exercised you would lose the weight. You are just taking the easy way out. You think this is some kind of miracle surgery. You can still gain the weight back and stretch out your stomach". Sure, common sense tells you ABSOLUTELY! Why not? it's just easier said than done. I have a really hard struggle with food. It makes me happy. It fills a void. Will I turn back to my old ways after having VSG? I really hope not. That would be DEVASTATING! :crying: Sorry...I just had to vent.

SouthernSleever 228 Posted June 1, 2010 As far as the PCP I don't know but that's a question I also have. If you went into the ER I don't see how they could turn you away but other than that I'll be curious to find out as well.
Tiffykins 673 Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) Absolutely not true. Many of the patients that travel to Mexico have very supportive PCP and other specialist docs that take care of them post-op. If your PCP won't take care of you, find a new doctor. As for your food issues, VSG will not fix that, they operate on our stomachs not our brains. So, all those issues with food filling a void, and being a comfort need to be dealt with separately. There is no way you should go into this unprepared for the mental aspect of this surgery. It's an entire lifestyle change, and while some still lose weight and don't follow the guidelines, there are many that don't follow the guidelines and they don't reach goal, or never lose the desired amount of weight. You'll get from your sleeve what you put into it. Being compliant, diligent and positive is the best recipe for success.
