Post-Op Question

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has asked, but how soon after surgery can I be sexually intimate with my husband? It's one of the few things I didn't think to ask until after I left the doctor's office for my pre-op. Thanks!

There was a thread out there on the main boards somewhere, but I cant find it. I think the jist of it was, two weeks or after your incisions healed and you felt like it.

I had to get info on that one too. ;)

I'm sure the docs don't want us popping stitches, staples, glue, or whatever is keeping us closed up. I guess I'm gonna have to get busy this weekend! :becky:

I remembered to ask at my pre-op. My surgeon told me as soon as I felt comfortable and up to it.

Well I can tell you I had sex the noght before and it was great. I did ask my doctor because I have a hornball hubby and he said about 1 week and then you can do it if you feel up to it.. I could not hold on my hubby so when the week was up in the sack we went... But just because you cant have sex doesnt mean foreplay is out of the question

You are all wonderful and funny! I love it!

Having just had spinal injections for a pinched nerve & arthritis, my DH is afraid of hurting me. He's sweet, & I'm horny! :nervous

I'll ask before surgery on Monday! Thanks All!

You all are cracking me up! I know that I didn't ask that question, but probably on purpose so that I could legitimately say "I'm not sure it's O.K. to do it yet" when I just plain ole didn't want to!:biggrin1: Seriously though, I do think it was in my packet of information that they gave me. I'll try to go find it for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
