being sleeved TODAY!

Recommended Posts

I am being sleeved today with Dr. Nick! I am so nervous and excited. My surgery is scheduled for 11:30am but surgeries always run late so we shall see when I actually go in. AHHHH This is all so unreal. Talk to you guys on the other side!

Thanks so much everyone! Well I am out, I got out of surgery at approximately 2:15pm. I'm feeling alright overall actually. My ribs feel like they've been kicked but I'm told that's from the gas. I'm doing my breathing exercises and I've walked around the halls once. I'm pretty impressed with how I am feeling thus far, I may get to go home tomorrow!

However, I did not feel that great right out of surgery haha. I woke up with them telling me to breathe deeply and in my head I was saying "Oh dear God if this is how it is going to feel I instantly regret this decision!!!" but those feelings were over in about thirty minutes!

It has happened! It's here! I'm so excited for my future. To anyone that is wondering whether they can do this...YOU CAN! Welp, I'm a little drowsy (aka falling asleep, hehe) so I'd better get some rest. Thank you all for your wonderful words of encouragement.

SO happy you handled surgery well. Just remember every day from now until your fully recovered will get better. Just do what you can to get the fluids in, rest, sip sip sip, and walk. Looking forward to seeing you online and recovering even more soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
