Recommended Posts

Hi all... Just wanted to share a quick update on my progress... Sleeved February 1 by Dr. Aceves, 210 day of surgery, 165 today (June 1). Went in for my 3 month post surgery checkup with Dr. A last Friday, they did the upper GI swallow, checked for Reflux, etc, all looks great. No hernias, no stretching, everything 100%! Got my labs back today, and everything came through with bells on! My hemoglobin and Iron are even UP since my surgery, which some of you may know I've had problems with. All-in-all, I'm just sooooooo happy with my results and how I look and feel right now. YAHOO to the sleeve!

Hope you're all doing GREAT! xxoo

Congratulations! It's always so gratifying to get those labs back and hear that "everything looks great," isn't it?

As a fatty, I was always waiting to hear that I had diabetes or needed blood pressure meds, or something. Now all the labs just get better and better!

So again, congratulations!

Wooohooo! Great job! I've seen that a lot of people end up going back to Dr. A for their check up, but no one ever describes their expierence with this like they do with surgery. Did you make all of your own plans while down there and then just show up at the hospital for a schedualed appt. Or do they help in planning your trip/accomidations like they do when you head down the first time? Could you talk a little about your expierence with this situation? Just curious. :-) I'm hoping to schedual surgery with Dr. A some time in September so I'm just gathering all the info I can now. Thanks in advance!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
