I know that Dr. Aceves paid in advance to advertise on this site.

Where is his advertisement? He had an ad on here and it looks like it has been removed. Why was his ad removed when it was already paid for?

I see both of you ladies had your sleeve done with Dr. Aceves. I'm scheduled with him on July 1 and I was wondering how your experiences were down in Mexicali. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! Is there anything special I should know, anything I should plan on taking that they don't mention in their instructions? Any suggestions for something to do the night before surgery? It'll just be my aunt and I, and July 1 is her birthday, so we'd like to do something fun the night before.

Thanks for your help!

Allison

If you are having surgery on July 1st, then you will be at the hotel the night before. The hotel is very nice.

Dr. Aceves is wonderful and you have nothing to worry about. If they sent you the list of things to take, then you are all set. If you have a lap top, I would take that too.

For you going to see Dr. Aceves, there is a Yahoo group site called Dr. Aceves' Bandsters (altough most of the posters are sleevesters) that has a lot of useful information.

I also had my surgery with Dr. Aceves and it was a very good experience. I was actually there during the aftershocks of the earthquake...so I'm sure your experience will be a little less "bumpy" than mine :) I traveled to and from mexicali alone and didn't have anyone with me during my stay...and I was perfectly fine....

Some tips:

1. as soon as you can...WALK WALK WALK around the hospital...it will help with your pain and relieving gas pain you will have.

2. Pack a heating pad....it helps with gas pain in your shoulders...they have them but just in case...

3. Have them put a fan in your room right away....you'll appreciate the air.

4. The hospital does have intnernet so a lap top can be nice.

5.Sip all day long to stay hydrated.

Have a safe and healthy journey....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
