I am wondering what sort of pain medication I should have on hand for after surgery. I have a bottle of Vicodin that I thought might be useful because I don't know if I can legally come back across border with the pain medication that the doctor is going to give me in Mexico. I don't even want to go there and try it. Of course I will run it by the doctor before hand but thought maybe others would have some input on what their doc's prescribed. I have a 6 hour car ride home and want to be as comfortable as possible.

I also have some tylenol with codeine on hand and I bought a pill crusher. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before surgery.

help?

do NOT use any medication with anti inflammatory. Can be dangerous! Tylenol is good to take. Consult with surgeon first for anything else.

No NSAIDS while your healing. oxycontin SR is good , but may be over kill for your pain. I was told not to use percocet or vicodin. While my stomach heals. best of luck

Oh god don't even say that word (percocet) the doctor prescribed that for me after my Tummy Tuck and I woke up hallucinating in my living room one night, I saw people moving around in my living room it was nuts. LoL it was a scary trip. Needless to say I tossed that stuff out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
