Feeling a little frustrated today ......

Recommended Posts

I eat deli Virginia baked ham with a slice of cheese rolled up.

The Greek yogurt I get is Brown Cow brand from Walmart. It comes in strawberry and blueberry but I have started buying plain and adding stevia and my own blueberries.

I can't remember when you had your surgery but if your'e at least a month post op, you don't need to only have 2 oz every 10-15 min. That is during the healing stage. I think once I was past one month, I was drinking an 8 oz shake in 5 min.

I can eat 2 rashers of grilled back bacon, a bite of sausage and 1 fried egg for a brunch now. I can eat 2 slices of bread with minimal topping in one go but it's pushing it. I can eat 600ml of french onion Soup over 30 minutes, or a whole grilled chicken breast with chilli sauce and salad. I fill up quickly and stay full for maybe 4 hours if I have eaten a Protein meal, only 2.5 hours if it a carb meal. I tend to follow an Atkins type regime as this works best for me. I am happy with where I am now, if we go out for a long leisurely lunch I can eat more as there are long pauses between the courses and wine relaxes your stomach. I am a year out from surgery and I still feel the restriction but it's not in a bad way, I don't get sick, I just can't eat any more. I do find if I get too hungry I eat too fast and that does tend to make me cough which I didn't do pre surgery.

Im on my 12th day out from the surgery, so yes, I'm in the healing stage. That is why I mentioned the creme Soup. It is difficult to just drink 2 oz of that every 10/15 min. I am beginning to feel very hungry. especially now that I have begun phase 2. I have never seen the brown cow brand of greek yogurt in our wallmart stores in Fl.

What do you add to your chicken and tuna salads? I thought of adding sour creme? or maybe unflavored yogurt, then again the low fat mayo would probably be more to my liking. Do you add veggies to it..like onion, pickles, eggs?

For egg tuna or chicken salad, I use

Miracle Whip Light and a tiny bit of mustard. You can put eggs in with the chicken salad if you want, but unless you're cleared for solids, I wouldn't put onion or pickles in there yet.

It really doesn't matter which brand

of Greek yogurt you buy. I just like

to buy the plain and add stevia to it cause it's lower in carbs.

You're welcome! I am glad to help!

I use stevia because it's more natural than any other artificial sweetner. Some people don't have a problem

with Splenda, but it gives me horrible gas.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
