So, one day you look in the mirror post-op, and you notice you're LOSING WEIGHT!

Calva410,

Yes it is great to look in a mirror and see that I'm losing weight,

even though sometimes I still don't like what I see. I mean I know

I'm losing and in four months I've dropped 100 pounds but sometimes

I still see the old me in the mirror. Still wanting to lose a lot more weight

even though friends and family are telling me they want me to stop after

another twenty five to thirty pounds.

It makes me happier when I see someone I have not seen since Jan. and

they do a double take or tell me I don't look like the same person. When

I put XL or XXL shirts and 40 or 42 inch in the waist jeans on instead of

4X or 5X shirts and 54 or 56 inch waist jeans. When I can sit in a booth

while eating out etc. Those are the things that give me that great feeling

of I'm really losing weight.

Don't get me wrong I see it in the mirror and in pictures but my mind

doesn't seem to realize what it's looking at in the mirror.

I promise I'm not crazy, just have a hard time with mirrors.

Good luck on your journey.

Gary

I take pics every week so I can visually see the change from one week to the next. It really helps me keep going when I can visually see the progress. I would suggest this to everyone :)

Mirrors have never been my friend and it takes me a long time before I begin to notice the weight difference.

The one thing that made me jump for joy was when I could feel my hip bones while lying down in bed. Now my morning ritual is to feel my flatter belly and hip bones before I get up and start my day. I see it as a physical and mental ritual to remind me that my body is changing and to motivate me for the day ahead.

I did, and I loved it. I knew then I was beautiful. I was so in shock I pulled out my camera and snapped a picture of it. I was amazed. I dont see it every day so when I do I am shocked and happy all over again.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
